Zone1 I believe in free will

I did not see anything in science that could grant us free will. I still believed in consciousness and God.
What do you mean? Why would science "grant us" anything much less free will? You believe in consciousness and God. OK is belief in consciousness and God contrary to believing in free will? You are not very clear in what you are trying to say.

I saw nothing in science that allowed for an entity to choose between two options. It would always be one of them depending on how things were.

But now I see that when you take risk and are not instructed you make your own choice.

That's even less clear. How about this, can you define what you mean by "free will"?
free will -

  1. the power of acting without the constraint of necessity or fate; the ability to act at one's own discretion.

discretion - the freedom to decide what should be done in a particular situation:

I couldn't see a decision being made by a brain or anything else. Nowhere in science. Until I read a verse in my religion - "Men should be anxiously engaged in a good cause and do many good things of their own free will." I thought of taking risk and then not being instructed and realized a brain could make a decision between many options.

"Men should be anxiously engaged in a good cause and do many good things of their own free will."
This biblical statement is highly subjective. what is "good"? What does "anxiously engaged" mean? And if the Bible is compelling you to do "many good things" are you exercising free will or trying to score points with God?

It means you should put your heart into it and that you don't do things just because God told you but try to find your own good things to do that God hasn't even told you about.

Oh and it's not in the Bible. It's scripture in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints that we don't typically share.

So a Mexican man decides to be a drug smuggler because he can make money that helps his family and his village. Is he doing good things?

I don't know, but my scripture might apply to it.

I can probably continue a bit if anyone still wants to talk to me.

exactly why we got the boot from eden Cat

we became self aware as incarnate beings , and when the apple of desire was before us , lost ourselves to it

I'm hoping to analyze that when I go to the temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints this weekend. Since I came to believe in free will, I've been wanting to think about the garden of Eden.

I don't know, but my scripture might apply to it.
In the Mexican's heart he believes he is doing good by his family and his village. He excercised his free will to become a drug smuggler. The US family grieving the death of their son who overdosed on the Mexican mans' drugs does not believe he did good.

Again, what I said. I'm not going there.

Maybe this will help. Our church says when we're dead and get educated on the truth, we will judge ourselves.

We have the illusion of free will.. the ego does like to think it has control, when it really doesn’t.
