Musicians: Have you ever believed a certain progression of chords could open a portal to something evil?

Very possible considering that each level of heaven and hell is connected to a spinal chakra, and each chakra is associated with a musical note or tone. That is why certain songs send some people off into a far off land because the music resonates with the chakra they are most sympathetic with.

That explains why I was unfamiliar with it--- I am a big fan of Yes but I stopped following the band after 'Going For The One.'
IMO, music was created by God and the scales have been around forever.
Different scales and frequencies are tuned to different emotions naturally with human beings. That's my take on it.
Happy song? Major scale.
Sad song? Minor scale.

maybe evil sells Trog.......?? ~S~
Reign in Blood is a helluva album.
But look at this:
Damn, has the internet scrubbed this song?

Apparently evil does sell, but I don't see where the music is inherently evil. :dunno:
The lyrics, perhaps notsomuch.

Though the Gregorian Chant is often times considered "Christian" in nature, I've always found it to be dark and underworldly.

This tribal sound from The Hu puts a unique twist on chord progression. Very warlike.

I was a fan of their earlier stuff back in the late 70's but don't care much for it these days. But I do love the stuff they did in the late 80's, especially the album "Big Generator."

The early stuff like Fragile and Close To Edge were more of a psychedelic rock opera. I really love Relayer a lot, too. I will have to give parts of Big Generator a listen on You Tube when I think of it and check out some of the songs... Yes put out a lot more albums than I ever really followed.

Of course, I have no practical grasp on music in general or on chords, specifically.

So, I really don’t know.

I will say, you have interesting musical taste, including, minimally, a wide-range in various musical arts.

Except for this very thread and your post and link, I am pretty sure I would never stumble upon that video.

I don’t think my musical taste is even all that well-rounded. I’m guessing that yours is.
The amazingly funny thing is (to me) is all the effort to be innovative and unique.. . . but the longer I listen to it, the less unique it becomes.

That is exactly right. As confirmed by Vedic Seers thousands of years ago, music is a quintessential element of all existence. There is a music or sound associated with every level of being in the universe. Even the creation of the universe itself has a sound of its own, a specific frequency, the frequency of creation; that is the sound of OM, the beginning, and I actually have a tuning fork around here somewhere made to be tuned to that exact frequency. It is pretty cool actually.

Seriously, you misplaced your OM tuning fork? :rolleyes-41:
What frequency is it?
The discombobulator is a frequency thing, too.
I put my tuning fork someplace I'd know where it was. Yeah, that always works out just dandy! /sarcasm

Nah, I'm pretty sure it is at the bottom of a drawer right next to me, I just haven't touched it in a long while.

What frequency is it?
I forget but it is stamped right in the side down to a tenth of a Hertz. You can probably look it up on the web, but it is a fairly low frequency. The company that made it made maybe a dozen different "cosmic" frequencies but I thought this would be the one cool one to have.

One interesting thing to do is to rap it on a hard surface then hold the tip of its base/handle to your forehead. A very calming/clearing/cleansing effect, like clean, fresh, cool mountain air and water on a clear day.

Tubular Bells was spooky during The Exorcist. Sure scared the shit out of me and my friends when we went to see it!

Pretty cool album to listen to on LP but you gotta be very stoned because each side is pretty much one song all the way through.

yup, actually a rather fascinating concept that everything is energy that hums along in universal existence ........which would insinuate those frequencies that are out of tune are anti-existential

~S~
