My 2018 computer has been used perhaps 15,000 hours or more. Now I must press extra hard on letter "i" to type it. That was an $1,500 worth computer, but it is not eternal.

Shit happens. My keyboard dropps or doubles letters all the time. It helps me to remember to proof read what I wrote before pressing enter. My 2018 computer has been used perhaps 15,000 hours or more. If it's a laptop that might not work. It's the keyboard.
Try high pressure spray or dabble a few drops around the key and use a pick to scrap out the debris.
Something learned this evening. If it's a laptop that might not work.
You want a cigarette?
Depends on how the manufacturer built the keyboard, on some models if the keyboard starts going bad the whole keyboard has to be replaced, there are no keys to be lifted, it's a membrane with contact points built in.Something learned this evening.
That's OK Mikey. We all know what you are. There is no need for you to hold a sign like that to identify yourself.
Sadly replacing a $1,500 computer s out of question. At best I will get an $300 computer.Shit happens. My keyboard dropps or doubles letters all the time. It helps me to remember to proof read what I wrote before pressing enter.

I will eventually upgrade as well, but for now, I consider it a proof-read-encouragement feature.Sadly replacing a $1,500 computer s out of question. At best I will get an $300 computer.

I guess, computers are designed to last only few years. I was on Social Media most of the time.I had that problem several years back.
Where I had to press some of the keys extra hard.
Finally got really bad and took the laptop to the repair shop.
Come to find out it's a somewhat common problem.
The battery was old and had swollen in size.
So it was pressing against the keys.
Had them replace the battery and my keyboard worked perfectly.
