I am totally lost.

Sometimes it's the rubber underneath, simple wear and tear or even water splashed on it.

If it's a keyboard in which you can easily remove a key and look underneath, that's what I have done in the past to reset the rubber, clean a speck of dirt. I've used a high pressure air cleaner you can buy at a dollar store for such endevours

Still other times, I just accept that it will remain a problem until the computer expires unfortunately.

Oh, one additional option I have used in a crunch, a "mouse click digital keyboard" where basically you install a digital keyboard on your screen and click the mouse cursor to the corresponding key you require. This is of course a last resort.

Good luck.
Thank you. Will work on the key tonight.

My 2018 computer has been used perhaps 15,000 hours or more. Now I must press extra hard on letter "i" to type it. That was an $1,500 worth computer, but it is not eternal.

PLEASE don't buy a new computer, you can simply buy an external keyboard & mouse to connect and use with your laptop.

I bought a full size wireless keyboard with a wireless mouse included off of Amazon, brand new for about $44.00. It comes with a "dongle" that you plug into one of your USB ports which is how the keyboard & mouse communicate with your laptop. Both run off of these long lasting batteries that come with the devices.

Mine has been running flawlessly for over two years and it's better ergonomically to have the keyboard and mouse on the keyboard shelf of my desk than to keep my arms elevated to the top of the desk.

Also in my particular setup I have a docking station for the laptop that has two large monitors connected to it so while everything runs off of the little laptop, the environment is like that of using a full sized desktop with multiple screens.

You can fix this, easily and probably have a better setup than you did initially unless you actually use your device on your lap.

And here's something you can use to pull the gunk out of between your keyboard keys:

I am a 53 yo male housekeeper for my parents. As U may guess, replacing a $1,500 comp would not be easy. I guess, I should look 4 a $300 computer.
I have a $700 Dell--2016 model and it is beginning to give me a couple of headaches--I am ready to chuck it. Time to study up and see whats out there.

This 100%. I have a Dell laptop and the keyboard does not "lift off" like they used to. Individual keys will, but not the entire thing. When the keyboard begins to go many people might think the computer is unusable. (I'm sure Dell planned it that way). A few months ago the right side of my keyboard was not working well. First our daughter loaned me a bluetooth keyboard, but that wasn't great. The USB port keyboard was the trick. I love it. Saved me from buying a new laptop.

Thank you. I will be looking for a bluetooth keyboard.

Why don’t you order one on Amazon

Be careful going outside as Covid is very much everywhere
