Well what would you compensate people who, if I'm not mistaken, were forced to move, rather abruptly, from the places they'd built their lives, and start new lives because of some bogus claims made by a radio show host? I appreciate that Jones is an outspoken critic of the government, but there must also be accountability for the media.

Because, assuming the account is true, then the guy had to sell basically all his shit, leave his neighbors, friends, etc. behind, because of a lie. While $75,000,000 is steep, I think a sum in the tens of millions makes sense.
Nah. Repayment for any such expenses plus payment of attorney’s fees and even a kick in the nuts penalty like $3- or $4-million as “punitive” damages would be justifiable.
The guy claims he basically had to start a new life. How can you put a dollar value on something like that?

Maybe. Maybe not. The trier of fact could conclude that Jones did cause some harm. But that doesn’t mean everything that plaintiffs alleged were accepted.

Setting aside the damage award as excessive wouldn’t require any appeal. The presiding judge at the trial should simply act.
