How would you improve our health?

Lots of prescriptions.
It shows.
So you have no idea. Maybe a new bureaucracy?

I took my Aunt Betty, then in her early 90's, to one of her appointments with an osteoporosis specialist. The drug they had been prescribing they said they needed to stop because it was negatively affecting her liver. They could not prescribe the inexpensive and very effective drug they wanted to replace it with because the Medicare/Obamacare rules did not allow them to prescribe it unless she had had her gallbladder removed. And they weren't allowed to remove what was probably a healthy gallbladder.

So she has been stuck with the drug Prolia for her osteoporosis. It costs thousands per dose, and though insurance pays for most of it--that kind of thing drives up all our insurance costs of course--she still has a co-pay of almost $300 every time she gets the shot.

That is what happens when you have government directing healthcare instead of medical professionals in the private sector.

Rybelsus is $3,600 for a three month supply. If you are a diabetic and there wasn't insurance, how would you pay for it?

If the government wasn't involved, it wouldn't cost $3,600 for a three month supply. A vial of insulin only costs a few dollars--$6 maximum--to make but sells for $300. That would not be the case if it were not for government meddling in the process. At least Canada caps the cost at I think $30 which still allows the pharmaceutical company a reasonable profit. But government meddling in the USA has raised the cost of education, healthcare, good insurance etc. to unaffordable heights and those in government refuse to deal with that.

At least Trump's MAGA vision recognizes the problem and he is appointing people who will address it. Hopefully they can find a solution that is a win win for all.

Thank you. RFK Jr will either succeed or he won't. But for sure he can't do any worse than what we have had in that post for some time. He talks the right words. Let's see if he can come through with what he says he wants to do.
It seems that RFKjr will be concerned mainly with 'toxic substances'. It might be useful for one of the other agencies to educate the public about health as well.

Agencies under the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) include1234:
  • National Institutes of Health (NIH)
  • Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)
  • Indian Health Service (IHS)
  • Food and Drug Administration (FDA)
  • Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR)

Superstitious Attitude Toward Nature

Natural food wasn't designed to be what's best for human consumption. "Additives" are chemicals, but so are what we eat and what makes up the human body's physiology. We weren't provided with some sacred structure that it would be heresy to add anything to.
The body can adapt but doesn't like constant changes in diet.

Canadian government negotiates the price.

The USA is not any other country. All I know is before the government got involved in providing healthcare, all of us could afford to see a doctor when we needed to and doctors were available to see us pretty much 24/7. And there were charities and other provisions made for the very poorest people. The U.S. healthcare system was the best in the world at that time. U.S. life expectancy was up there among the top of all countries.

So was our education system and most could find a way to pay for college if they really wanted to go.

Since the government got into healthcare, got into higher education, both are now out of reach for the average American to pay for out of pocket. And we are among the sickest and unhealthiest and the worst educated of most developed countries.

If you want to reduce costs let the free market do it. It HAS to make things affordable in order to function.
The problem is human nature. We are taught to "roll with the flow" (the broad way that leads to destruction) instead of fighting our worst demons.

Don't know where he stands on that. But I do know he is interested in identifying anything that is creating an epidemic of general unhealthiness in the America people. His job is not to look for cures but rather causes and dangers and eliminate those as much as is reasonable.
The causes are well known, and the cures are unacceptable to most. It's a hopeless situation that will only get worse. :(

We sell food products here that are banned in Europe. Nuff said. We have cheap fast food and all it's harmful effects in every city and town. So it comes down to instilling the harmful impacts of consuming the stuff on our kids. Imagine if most all.kids never ate an ounce of bad stuff. The market would shut down these places. Win win win.

Fast food is far from cheap.

But none of them have been doing so have they? Government is corrupt and in the pocket of or extorting companies that are putting the harmful substances in our food.

If Yellow Dye #5 for instance adds absolutely nothing of benefit to us other than a pretty color in our cereals, candies, popcorn salts etc. If it is indeed harmful to us, i should be eliminated from the food supply and Fruit Loops and Gold Medal and other companies will have to find a different and unharmful way to entice people to buy their products.

Agreed, however I don't see that changing.

RFK Jr intends to check things like that out and use what he describes as the 'gold standard of science' to ensure that the products approved by the government are safe for people to use.

And then Companies give Trump a call and thats that.

Its means these are big companies and they make big donations to both parties.
Donald Trump doesn't give diddly squat about their campaign contributions. He never has. And anybody, government dictates to big business what they will donate far more than big business controls that process. Read this small, easy to read book and you will better understand that.

Natural coloring agents are being explored and introduced. Maybe JFKjr's efforts will help this along.
