How would you improve our health?

1. Get all hidden poisons out of the food supply and other substances we take internally or require clear warnings of the presence of those poisons. Make honest science available to the people so they can decide what's best for them.

2. Get the government out of healthcare except for NECESSARY regulation, licensing, etc. and allow the free market to provide affordable healthcare again.
First have to explain why so many aren't affected by those 'hidden poisons'.

Tell people to chill and stop stressing out so much.
Now we're getting somewhere. However, much stress is caused by influences beyond the control of the individual. Look for massive physical and mental health disorders among Democrats in the coming months. On the contrary many Republicans express feelings of relief, and even euphoria since the election. My son told me that he had the best sleep he's had in months the night after the election. He said that he wasn't even aware that the election was affecting his sleep.

Personal stressors such as job, finances, relationships, and even bad health, can exacerbate health problems.

If you were the head of HHS, what would you do to try to improve the health of America?

cook more at home. up the vegetable intake, find the benefitial foods by doing a little personal research. there are many things that can help with diabetes, heart health, but it takes effort.

Your inability to reason constricts yer intelligence to not understand the essentials of metaphysical control.

I'm all for choice...so proper and easy to read labeling should be a top priority.

People have every right to eat a Mrs. Fields cookie...but they should know that one single cookie has the same amount of fat as 2 big macs, a large fry, and a chocolate shake.

How do you know they aren't affected?

We didn't have an epidemic of autism, ADHD or other conditions requiring children to be drugged with Ritalin and other stuff when I was a kid. And maybe it had nothing to do with it but we didn't have much in the way of processed food when I was a kid either. Wouldn't it be a good thing to actually consider what we are doing to the children, to everybody with all these additives and unnatural stuff we allow in the food supply now?

Diabetes, cancer, many other diseases are far more common now that in previous generations. Maybe its due to better diagnosis. But isn't it time to ask why and get some concrete answers?

HHS may or may not look the other way in a lot of this stuff due to whatever factors or pressures. But I am encouraged that we will have somebody heading that agency that actually cares what is put in our food supply and medications.

I was stunned to see that a friggan slice of bread has 20% of your daily allotment of sodium.

Luckily I like brownberry healthnut bread which is only 7%. And that's still high.
My "Rosen's" whole grain is only 9 %. Great bread.

As long as the total is within bounds you are ok. Salt isn't the boogeyman it's made out to be. Science has conjured all sorts of scapegoats for poor health in order to line their pockets and their resumes'. Good health practices are so simple that the general attitude would be "there must be more to it than that" if it were known. The problem is that simple solutions require a simpler lifestyle, and we're way past that.

Most people know the answers. They just either cannot or will not follow them. Alcoholism runs in my family. It has killed many before their time. I drank as much as anyone in my youth, but there came a time when I knew I had to quit and I did. My brother and sister didn't and it killed them. We all had the same predisposal, so what was the difference? My 'will' was no stronger than theirs, in fact they were stronger willed than me, I just channeled my will in a different direction.

I think that there is a genetic mutation (in the MTHFR gene, which everyone has) that makes it hard for many people's bodies to remove toxins. Those who do not have the MTHFR mutation have much less trouble detoxing from all the chemicals that we eat, drink, breathe in and absorb through our skin. Now figure out how this connects to the incredible rise in the statistics of chronic illness, such as cancer, ADHD and autism.

Another factor is the trust that folks have in pHARMa. There's a trend that I saw manifested in my late husband's family, of diabetes, after he and his father and brothers started taking statins.

How convenient for the doctors -- drug your patient into such illnesses as diabetes and you have a revenue stream for as long as that patient lives.

People are in no hurry to put doctors out of business. Modern healthcare is the 'get out of jail free' card that allows people to continue their horridly unhealthy lifestyles (Good luck dealing with that RFKjr).

He doesn't intend to deal with that in my opinion. What he does intend to do is do a much better job of making sure those of us who WANT to live healthy lifestyles are better able to do that. And a huge part of that may be in getting harmful additives/substances out of our food and medicine that we have no way of knowing the harm that they do.

His goal is to use a 'gold standard of science' to determine what is toxic and what is not. And he intends to be immune from pressures from big business and big pharma to make those determinations.

Ban all artificial ingredients in food.
.

Yeah.

In Grandma's day, organic food was called "FOOD".

I remember precisely when the poisoning of our food started.

In 1969, I decided I wanted a Dr. Pepper. It was my favorite as a kid, and I hadn't had one in quite a while. I popped it open, really looking forward to it, and the first sip almost gagged me. It tasted like glue! I have never been able to drink it since. I started noticing at that time that lots of candies started tasting differently too.

Jr is an insulated, ultra-wealthy, white bread idiot.
He talks about improving health but wants to legalize cannabis. What a fucking moron!
Trump gave him that position as compensation for an election endorsement and potential votes.

Animal feed, including laying mash, is loaded with salt. A medium egg has 70 mg of sodium. I don't salt my eggs and I can still taste saltiness. The donut I'm eating right now has 370 mg of sodium. That said I keep my sodium within the RDA. Interestingly doctors recommend lowering it to 1800 mg. Britain is even lower, 600 mg.
So what's the alternative to salt? Chili sauce for flavoring food?
