How worried are R's about the ACA premium hike backlash? This worried.

If Republicans trashing existing healthcare… yes it is their responsibility to find a replacement

Why is that? Once legislation is introduced, it can’t be modified? Is that your stance? Maybe they should have thought the ACA through a bit more before passing it.

I guess we can all look forward to British Teeth, Canadian wait times, and Belgium assisted suicide.

UHC countries are turning away from "Gender-Affirmation" for children, i.e. banning it since they control medical choices. The American profit motive is what drove the explosion of it here.
Another discharge petition, seeking a vote on a one-year subsidy extension authored by Reps. Josh Gottheimer (D-N.J.) and Jen Kiggans (R-Va.), was also filed Wednesday and quickly picked up support from several Republicans.

The moves to sidestep Speaker Mike Johnson came as a growing number of mainstream House Republicans publicly warned that their leaders’ apparent plan to allow the tax credits to expire without a replacement in place will cost them their majority in next year’s midterm elections.

ā€œIf we fumble this health care ball, nothing else is going to matter,ā€ Rep. John Rutherford of Florida said.

Fear mongering over the specious horrors of a national healthcare system will not appease constituents if R's force them to lose healthcare insurance.

ACA was always A compromise WITH REPUBLICANS.

First you tell us that it is not their responsibility responsibility of Republicans to do anything about trashing our healthcare

And then you say they will ā€œmodifyā€ it.

Well ok

What modifications are they offering?

We’ve been waiting like nine years to hear about these modifications

Major legislation like the ACA historically has always needed modification to improve its efficacy. R's have never been motivated by improvement, but rather repeal.

I would scrap the whole thing and open more free clinics with all the subsidy money we would be saving. Couple this with not allowing any body and every body from around the world to walk into our country into a ā€œfreeā€ medical facility.

Right, because the entire foundation is faulty.

Not a single Republican voted for it. How do you get its a compromise?

It is a compromise of our entire Constitution that it even exists.

It needs to be dismantled completely, and the government should be banned from healthcare.

That wont be enough. And leaving tens of millions out to dry is no solution either.

This kind of post demonstrates how little people like you understand healthcare or what the issues are.

You’re stuck in a mindset from 50 years ago.

Free clinics aren’t a substitute for insurance.

Kicking tens of millions of seniors off Medicare is exactly the kind of bold thinking Republicans should widely adopt in the next election.

Please please please run on this.

Do try to focus.

The ACA is NOT Medicare.

You would huh?

Well that’s just wonderful

Let us know when Republican LEGISLATORS come up with a plan

Medicare is healthcare.

Banning the government from healthcare means banning Medicare.

Do you want to revise your idiotic statement?
No you stuipid ****.

How is Medicare funded and for whom?

90% of Medicare is funded by payroll deductions. I think government needs to drop the 10% subsidies they provide.

In fact, the government should not provide taxpayer monies not collected specifically for Medicare at all.

So, if they won't do that, then yes. Not one dime of anyones taxes should go to any healthcare system other than the money the put into the system.

**** govenment healthcare scams.

Medicare is paid for by payroll TAXES.

Those taxes come from taxpayers. People with jobs.

The vast majority of people with who are on Medicare don’t work and don’t pay taxes.

And the whole program is run by the government who exerts extensive control over the health system as a result.

It’s very much government healthcare.

sigh

Care to recant that statement?

Growing Reliance on Subsidies:

The government's role in funding Medicare has increased dramatically over the past 50 years. Payroll taxes financed 73 percent of Medicare spending in 1973, but by 2023 they covered only 36 percent. Meanwhile, the federal government's general fund contribution has grown from 16 percent in 1973 to 43 percent in 2023, and is projected to cover 50 percent of costs by 2053.pgpf

In essence, Medicare is fundamentally a subsidized program where the federal government pays for nearly half of all benefits through general tax revenues, not just through dedicated payroll taxes.kff+1

You seem to have some bizarre idea that payroll taxes aren’t taxes. You called them ā€œdeductionsā€ at first.

Honestly, this is just bizarrely rationalized gibberish from the crowd that brought us bangers like ā€œkeep government out of Medicareā€

ā€œBanning government from healthcareā€ means banning Medicare.

Oh and Medicaid and veterans health benefits and a bunch of other shit.

Even if we accepted your idiotic complaint about general funds contributing to Medicare, you’d have to cut the program by like 50%. Good luck with that.

When I pay Social Security, it is alleged that those monies are for retirement ONLY. Not to be used for any other reason and NOT to be subsidized by other taxpayers to supplement what I set aside.

Medicare was also a payroll deduction but NOW they are taking taxes from other people and using that money for purposes not intended for MY medicare.

This is the incompetence of the government.

You seem to think that the government is all-powerful and exists to fund your life. After all, as any good three year old would exclaime, "I don't wanna pay for my own health coverage!"

Medicare needs to drop any and all subsidies and exist on the funding that was enacted into law in the original bill.

NO ADDITIONAL TAXES ARE TO BE APPLIED.

All of this is an aside to the fact that the evils of government in charge of MY health decisions is enough to abolish government in favor of a more responsible one.

One in which helping people doesn't mean cash in your pocket, but programs that teach you to survive on your own without government.

NO GOVERNMENT in Healthcare. FULL ******* STOP!

If you can't see the probems, or you are a three-year-old, then go have mommy explain it to you.

This unproductive discussion, most with the left are unproductive, is over.

NO GOVERNMENT in Healthcare. FULL ******* STOP!
That means no Medicare.

You’re so desperate to spout your nonsense bumper stickers that you’re saying contradictory things.

Medicare is funded by government taxes to administer a government run healthcare program. It doesn’t matter if those are taxes are specially designated or not. They’re still taxes. Which, by the way, are not equal. Higher income people pay a lot more than lower income people, yet everyone gets the same benefit. Sounds like socialism to me!

Your entire ideology is nonsense and your entire mantra is nothing but, "Orange Man Bad".

It is absolute nonsense to say that it doesn't matter what taxes are used for what. The abuse in such a believe is akin to the Holocaust in sheer numbers of lives wrecked.

Go grow up.
