How worried are R's about the ACA premium hike backlash? This worried.

Remember the Republicans with signs saying Tell the Government to Keep their Hands off my Medicare or Medicaid? In other words, they were anti government dopes who rely heavily on the government.

Trump's DOGE has hurt red states a lot. Are they going to be loyal? Didn't a Democrat just win Miami mayor race? Are Texans happy with ICE cruelty? Are Dearborn Muslim voters in MI going to support Republicans again?

Trump's cut to Green technology have hurt a lot of workers in red states.

Trump fucked farmers.

How loyal are these people?
More than 75% of people enrolled in the ACA live in states that Trump won, in 2024.

Even my brother admitted his insurance for him, his wife and 2 college sons is going up. If they don't do something. Did they already go up?

Like I said, I hope they are keeping track of how much Trump is costing them. Today I got coffee. Used to be $8.99. Now it's $12.99. $4 more for coffee? That's a lot. How many of those tins do I buy in a year? And that's just one item?

Trump is telling us all "perhaps we should only get 1 doll or pencil this Xmas" while he's filling the White House with gold. Telling us he's going to give us all a stimulus, or possibly end income taxes. And he's 2 weeks from showing us his healthcare plan. Been saying that for 10 years.

Is this a "the emperor has no clothes" situation? I don't know if that saying is appropriate for this situation. Where even Trump supports have to admit they are not better off.

The polls show that's what honest people are saying. Trump's numbers are going down so only die hard faithfuls are still here saying Trump's a smart man doing good things. They'll cling to the border. Okay fine. We will keep the border closed when we get power back. Message received.

You're killing Obamacare!

And for over 10 years Trump has been saying he's going to release his replacement for Obamacare in 2 weeks. Every year he says it. Where is it?

I agree Obamacare sucks. We should have single payer universal healthcare for all Americans. And those of us who have employer plans will just get premium insurance. We will see doctors sooner than my neighbors who get free Obamacare now.

That makes sense. If you are getting it free, back of the line. People who pay front of the line.
Single payer would be a disaster. But it's no doubt what Chimpy's ultimate goal was. Rationed care. Doctor shortage. No complicated surgeries. Why on earth would we want to be like inferior countries?

No shit, it can be fixed in about five minutes by extending ACA 2.0, saving millions of American families’ health care. The GOP just doesn’t want to.
IOW, Republicans have to fix what democrats created, the expiring subsidies?

Single payer would work similarly to how our system works now. You would continue to pay your premiums and deductables, we would manage it like medicare, throw everyone on the plan, but "you can keep your doctor". LOL.

No seriously. People without healthcare would just be covered by government catastrophic healthcare coverage for all citizens. If you have private healthcare, and you and you and I, then our insurance pays. But someone who doesn't have healthcare and gets cancer, gets the chemo or radiation. Regardless of ability to pay.

Or make the shit cheaper for people paying out of pocket. How about that solution? It just came to me. If you get cancer, that's $10K to go through treatments. Fair enough? Not $100K or $1 million which is what they charge us who have insurance.

They have to pay the max deductable. What is the max deductable now for someone with insurance? Make anyone who gets sick pay that out of pocket. Or owe it.

No, they can be dumb assholes who self immolate.

They have every right.
Since democrats created the problem, they should try to fix it. The last we saw, all they could think to do was shut down the government and make people suffer. Now they refuse to take a 2-year deal. They suck.

They are. Democrats have been trying to fix health insurance costs for 30+ years.

What was the best idea the GOP dipshits could come up with, for those 30 years?

What we now call Obamacare.

Last I checked Trump could pass anything he wants and Democrats can't stop him. What has changed? Did you lose a couple of Rs? MTG for example?

I believe Republicans only idea for healthcare is to let insurance companies cross state lines and compete against each other? Does that ring a bell? That was what they were saying before the ACA.

Before the ACA, they were calling for the individual mandate and mandating coverage of preexisting conditions.

Obama specifically chose their plan because he thought he could get it to pass, while single payer looked like it could not pass. He also thought this would distinguish him from his only real opponent for the nomination, Hillary Clinton.

There were 3 or 5 blue dog democrats who went along with the insurance companies. They broke from the Democrats and we had to give the insurance companies a seat at the table. No single payer.

You mean they wanted to let the insurance companies deny people coverage on pre existing conditions?

Obama also knew his ACA was just a start and could be improved. Trump won't improve anything except insurance companies profits.

Hey, they offered a two-year extension, but the democrats wouldn't take it.

The GQP has painted itself into a corner. If all they do is (try to) re-arrange where government money goes, it will still be the evil socialism they despise. I'm sure the rubes would back it, though, since they'd have to.

So either they go completely hands-off and "too bad, good luck paying for health care", or they're just full of shit.

This dumb shit is the best you idiots have come up with so far?
What is the answer?

Right now under the ACA COVID temporary subsidies, millionaires and billionaires - who are quite skilled at avoiding taxes - have their healthcare insurance subsidized by the taxes levied on working men and women.

Why do you want that to continue?
November is not that far away.
By February or March at the latest, voters will realize that the sky didn't fall, as the Chicken Little's claimed it would.

You only believe it will because the politicians are heavily paid by the healthcare insurance providers to tell you that it will.

Or . . . they could deal with the worst excesses of the ACA such as a permanent extension of a temporary subsidy that pumps billions of unearned dollars into the pockets of healthcare provider executives.

Yes, or better, they could scrap the ACA and immediately replace it with a plan that some Republicans were talking about, as I pointed out three years ago:

I'll be danged - Republicans may have it right on a health system!

But what we DON'T do is just pull the rug out from under millions of Americans with no notice and no clear plan. That is stupid, inhumane, and terrible leadership.
