How worried are R's about the ACA premium hike backlash? This worried.

Your entire ideology is nonsense and your entire mantra is nothing but, "Orange Man Bad".

It is absolute nonsense to say that it doesn't matter what taxes are used for what. The abuse in such a believe is akin to the Holocaust in sheer numbers of lives wrecked.

Go grow up.

Jesus, you’re now bringing up the holocaust?

Medicare is 100% funded by taxes (not “deductions” as you initially said). It would make zero difference if there is a line item on your pay stub or if they just increased all tax rates by 1.45% (2.35% if you make a lot of money). Government is going to fund Medicare one way or another.

And it’s a government run healthcare program.

Your childish slogan of “ban government from healthcare” is ignorant and infeasible. That’s my point.

GOP health care chaos spills into battleground midterm races

Republicans’ failure to get on the same page on expiring Obamacare subsidies is creating significant rifts between GOP primary contenders and causing heartburn for some of the party’s most vulnerable incumbents heading into November’s midterms.

With just weeks left before Covid-era subsidies lapse, causing steep health insurance rate spikes for millions of people, Republicans are all over the spectrum about what to do — with many of the party’s top candidates ducking when asked about the thorny issue.

The rats aren't only beginning to jump ship, they're eating each other.

Obamacare died because it is unaffordable.

Throwing money we don't have at it is stupid.

Because the GOP deleted the individual mandate.

The GOP likes to break things and then make fun of them for being broken.

The individual mandate was unconstitutional. Should have never been implemented in the first place, but from your post above, you made it clear that you dont care.

Capitol agenda: House GOP at the Obamacare cliff

House Republicans are set to mark their final session week of 2025 with a muddled health care message that’s poised to have a big impact — a nationwide spike in insurance costs after Obamacare subsidies expire in less than three weeks.

— The plan: GOP leaders are eyeing a Wednesday vote on a package of conservative-friendly health policies they released last Friday (Pro subscribers can read more of the specifics here).

The proposal — a narrowly-focused attempt at striking consensus in a divided GOP conference — doesn’t include an extension of Affordable Care Act tax credits that lapse on Dec. 31. Instead, leadership is expected to throw a bone to anxious rank-and-file members by giving them the chance to vote on an amendment that would continue the subsidies — a vote that’s almost guaranteed to fail.

“I expect people are going to have an opportunity to vote their conscience and then go defend their votes back home like we always do,” House Budget Chair Jodey Arrington (R-Texas) said.

That's the most cynical, deceitful thing I've seen from the POT in...............the last 24 hours.

So he is going to give us back Obamacare and he's talking about sending us all $2000 checks because we are all paying $2500 more because of tariffs.

Seems like Trump has made things worse and now he's trying to put things back to the way they were. Before he fucked up.
Obamacare is a failure. Chimpy lied.

White House to pitch a Trump Obamacare extension with limits

The White House expects to soon unveil a health policy framework that includes a two-year extension of Obamacare subsidies due to expire at the end of next month and new limits on eligibility, according to three people granted anonymity to discuss the unannounced plans.

The proposal would mark President Donald Trump’s foray into Capitol Hill negotiations over how to address health care premium spikes set to hit Affordable Care Act enrollees if Congress lets the premium subsidies expire.

A White House official declined to confirm the details of the plan, saying, “Until President Trump makes an announcement himself, any reporting about the administration’s healthcare positions is mere speculation.” MS NOW first reported news of Trump’s intent to announce a new health care framework as soon as Monday to address spikes in ACA insurance premiums.

As part of a deal to reopen the government earlier this month, Senate Republicans agreed to give Democrats a vote on the ACA tax credits in December. But GOP lawmakers across the Capitol have been divided over how to respond to the subsidy deadline, leaving many eager for Trump to reveal his preferences. Hard-line conservatives have been pushing to let the subsidies expire while moderate Republicans have been pressing for an extension. Some Republicans are angling for a health care overhaul to replace the credits.

Don is nothing if not unpredictable so you never know what he will or won't do until he does it. But I think it's fair to say that while many on the board were doing a happy dance over the idea of R's "winning" the shutdown, meaning unaffordable healthcare for millions, R congressmen were not as sanguine. With everything else that's going against R's heading towards the midterms it would appear defending the position of "people on ACA plans can go screw themselves" is one they'd rather not be put in a position of having to do.

Notice how the potentially proposed two year extension gets them past the election?
They have to do something about the democrat created expirations or they'll try to blame Republicans for it.

Nobody hates being in charge more than Republicans. We can help them out of this jam next November!

Naturally, should democrats manage to slither back into power, the issue will magically disappear.
No shit, it can be fixed in about five minutes by extending ACA 2.0, saving millions of American families’ health care. The GOP just doesn’t want to.

Obamacare is a failure. Chimpy lied.
You're killing Obamacare!

And for over 10 years Trump has been saying he's going to release his replacement for Obamacare in 2 weeks. Every year he says it. Where is it?

I agree Obamacare sucks. We should have single payer universal healthcare for all Americans. And those of us who have employer plans will just get premium insurance. We will see doctors sooner than my neighbors who get free Obamacare now.

That makes sense. If you are getting it free, back of the line. People who pay front of the line.

The individual mandate was unconstitutional.
Strangely, it was a republican idea.

In fact, it was the only and best idea they could come up with for over 20 years, in response to the idea of single payer.

They didn't think it was unconstitutional until Obama ate their lunch.

It can also be fixed by taxing billionaires and making them pay their fair share into the U.S. economy.

Why do you want waitresses and Amazon warehouse workers to pay for the healthcare for millionaires?

Keep in mind, we aren't dealing with the brightest crayons in the box, here.

"Polling from West Virginia lays that reality bare. When residents were asked their opinion of the Affordable Care Act, 70 percent approved and just 30 percent disapproved. When asked about Obamacare, support collapsed. Only 30 percent approved while 70 percent disapproved. The policy did not change. Only the name did."

Remember the Republicans with signs saying Tell the Government to Keep their Hands off my Medicare or Medicaid? In other words, they were anti government dopes who rely heavily on the government.

Trump's DOGE has hurt red states a lot. Are they going to be loyal? Didn't a Democrat just win Miami mayor race? Are Texans happy with ICE cruelty? Are Dearborn Muslim voters in MI going to support Republicans again?

Trump's cut to Green technology have hurt a lot of workers in red states.

Trump fucked farmers.

How loyal are these people?
