In a Republic, actually
Prime Minister Viktor Orbán's administration has rewritten Hungary's constitution to consolidate his power. U.S. conservatives are taking note.

“This kind of like the definition of illiberal democracy. It looks like a democracy from the outside. There's voting. There's courts. There's a parliament. But if you look at the details, one party runs it, one man runs the party, and it's pretty authoritarian.”

Conservatives in the United States have the advantage of advancing their illiberal, anti-democratic agenda by corrupting the mechanics of the American political process where the presidency, control of the Senate, and control of the courts are determined by the states, not the people.

From the outside it looks like a ‘democracy’ – there’s voting, functioning courts, the façade of ‘political opposition’ – but it’s fundamentally the authoritarianism of Republican minority rule.

Down here in Free Florida we can walk inside and outside places in both private and public areas. We all saw the authoritarians and who they were the last few years and a bit longer. To say it is perfect, no it is not. But it is in the direction of more freedom than blue areas which have more tyranny.

They want to be "ruled" by a "strong", authoritarian, hyper-aggressive, hyper-nationalist strongman.

Who knows why. But the world has certainly seen this before. We just didn't learn. Somehow.
Mac1958 is delusional

We dont want to be ruled by the drooling moron he voted for in 2020

US presidents don't rule. They lead. You want an authoritarian, fascist, nationalist ruler?

They have no idea how bad of an ass whipping they are about to receive, and deserve.

Too busy wagging their nail-painted dude fingers at anyone not woke.

I hope November causes mass leftist suicides.

Nah, they're too stupid to be ashamed. :p

I was thinking about that the other day. Maybe it's some kind of protective mechanism. You know, like God turns off your brain whenever you have to come face to face with your own stupidity

He's transferring property to the State by nationalizing it. He's very conservative and nationalistic.

Orban is a rightwing, authoritarian nationalist who is nationalizing property for the state.
