The US can put itself in the strategic position to not need Saudi oil, but I dont know if we can put ourselves in the political position not to need Saudi oil.

What crap. Is this where you get information? The Saudis are not the bad guys here. They waited 3 years before retaliating against the houthis. In 2000 the Saudis moved all their border villages back 25 kilometers. The houthis and Iran want to control the bab Al mandab and the straits of Hormuz.
