Responding to the passage of a handgun ban in Morton Grove, Illinois (The Village of Morton Grove’s Ordinance 08-11 has banned possession of handguns and other dangerous weapons within the Village since its adoption on June 8, 1981. This ordinance has been codified in Title 2, Chapter 6 of the Village’s Municipal Code. ), and the fawning media coverage that accompanied it, the city council of Kennesaw, Georgia, decided to make a statement of its own. With exceptions duly made for convicted felons, the disabled, and those with religious objections, the council passed (unanimously) an ordinance requiring each head of household to own and maintain a gun. Since then, despite dire predictions of "Wild West" showdowns and increased violence and accidents, not a single resident has been involved in a fatal shooting – as a victim, attacker or defender (There have been three murders: 1984 and 1987 with knives, and one in 1997 with a firearm.)

Thanks PC! I work in Kennesaw and it is definitely low crime and far from being the wild west. The fact that potential criminals know this about Kennesaw, keeps it safe.
