Greenland says they don't want to join America

So Trump wants to invade GREENLAND??
He loves to threaten any people or countries he can bully. What a goddamn shame. What a child.

Anyway, I can see some kind of treaty coming about, where Denmark commits to giving us defensive military autonomy and partnership on production of minerals and the other stuff there. Some kind of win/win.

It would be nice if we didn't approach every last issue like a fucking caveman, but that's America now. A predatory, transactional country that doesn't care about anybody outside of what we can get from them.

Greenland's Prime Minister Múte Bourup Egede rejected President Trump's claim in his sweeping address Tuesday night that the U.S. was "going to get" control of Greenland.

"We need Greenland for national security and even international security. And we're working with everybody involved to try and get it," Mr. Trump said. "But we need it really for international world security. And I think we're going to get it — one way or the other, we're going to get it. We will keep you safe. We will make you rich. And together, we will take Greenland to heights like you have never thought possible before."

"Kalaallit Nunaat (Greenland in the Greenlandic language) is ours," Egede wrote on social media. "We don't want to be Americans, nor Danes; We are Kalaallit. The Americans and their leader must understand that. We are not for sale and cannot simply be taken. Our future will be decided by us in Greenland."

I can't say I blame them in the least.

After all, would I want a government running my country that is the clown show of the Swamp?

Hell no.

But I also see Trump's concern about regional stability to make sure Greenland does not go rogue

Really, Greenland's charm is its isolation and cold weather. It keeps the crazies away.
And that is that.

Cutting the wealth here in half you would agree with then. Look at you with your reactions on DOGE cutting corruption and waste. We know the politicians who threaten and bully us.

So web getting another source of rare earth minerals instead of China.

Grreat news.

U.S. officials went door to door in Greenland’s capital of Nuuk looking for residents who wanted to greet the second lady, Jesper Steinmetz from Denmark’s TV 2 reported. But everywhere they went, they were rejected.

The unwelcoming response forced the second lady to change her plans, Steinmetz said, ahead of her arrival with Vice President JD Vance on Friday.
Her office had announced earlier she would attend the national dogsled race and visit historical sites over several days. Apparently she had planned to meet with locals in Nuuk as well.

The itinerary was scaled back drastically. Now the Vances are jointly visiting the U.S. Space Force base at Pituffik, which is more than 900 miles away from the capital.

Aside from the cold weather, it is probably the last Garden of Eden on the face of the earth, but it looks like the world simply won't let them be.
'The world'?

It is to laugh.

I don't care if Greenland joins the US, as long as we keep military bases there and can mine rare earth minerals there.

If I were interested in Greenland for strategic bases and the right to mine rare minerals I would use ……
DIPLOMACY

Offer money and military protection for expanded military bases
Offer an economic partnership where we mine rare minerals and split the profits with Greenland

But our President is clueless.
All he knows is how to bully and act like a thug.
Give us what we demand or we will take it.

I think the end results will be a greater presence in Greenland, including military bases. It won't be ours but we will have much greater influence than we do now. Might get a long term military agreement there, which I believe we already have had. And, America will invest in the country and have more economic clout there. At some time in the far off future their residents will vote if they want to be part of the US or not. I suspect the vote won't be so far off as they would lead you to believe now.
I was wondering if Trump would promise $100k or more per resident - that's only $6 billion - and then try to get a referendum. I bet the vote would be to join the US, if it's possible. But the Danes would need to get something in return too, since they would have to approve the deal.

Supposedly, there are trillions of ores and minerals there. It would be an incredibly outstanding deal for the US.

It must really hurt MAGA feelings the rest of the world isn’t ogling the US. They like to think the world worships us because it gives them an undeserved sense of self-importance by extension. The reality must be sobering. Even more sobering considering Trump is president.
