Is having Greenland something that Americans will gain some personal benefit from? If not, why is Trump set on getting it?

Give some examples of.those companies. Also of.cours Amtatica is litterally the other side of the world to Greenland.

Can you tell me why you have this quite complicated explanatiom whem Trump himself.has stated an (insane) motivation for.this obsession with Greenland?

Trump is an opportunist. His number one god is money with power as a close second. He's proven that he answers to his donors demands. Bombing Iran is one example. Bombing Venezuela is another. Trump is unpredictable which makes him unbelievable. "Campaign Trump" said one thing while "President Trump" did another.

On the plus side, Trump has done a good job of stopping the flow of illegal invaders. Kudos.

On the negative side, Trump's dream of earning the legacy of "President of peace" has been wholly demolished. He can NEVER be accused of loving and promoting peace. He continues to protect the sexual predators named in the Epstein files. He promised to release them then broke his promise. He can't be trusted to be honest and transparent.

As for Greenland, the USA already has a military base there so there's no good reason to annex that land for the sake of "national security." So there's really only one good reason to take that land and it's the same reason he invaded Venezuela: OIL and other natural resources.

First, it would hurt America if it causes a trade war. It would hurt Europe too, of course but thinking the result would be neutral is folly in my opinion.

Unless of course Europe rolls over. Something I doubt gaging the response from what I see living in Europe.

We aren't talking about a simple real-estate deal.We are talking about the hostile takeover of territory belonging to another country.

This by a man who has shown on more then one occasion that any agreement he makes is subject to change by him on a wim. You don't negoiate with someone like that.
Well...I never said we should take it by force... I said that if we offered FMV and they were receptive to it...I see no downside of buying Greenland.

But since Denmark is saying "no"...that should be the end of it.

Well then explain to me why getting Greenland our National Security would benefit, especially considering that getting it, would cause NATO to turn against us, thus causing our established security base to desert us?

Explain that to me, please!

How is getting Greenland (look at the map) going to help our security?

Greenland wants help in mining for the minerals... they can see the value in doing so... we can provide the mining expertise and equipment and do a better cleaner job of it than Denmark.... China or Russia...
The people in Greenland are against this now due to TDS... yes TDS has infected them too... after Trump is gone they will quietly change their tune... money talks and bullshit walks....
And you can bet that if China made an aggressive move on Greenland they would scream for the USA to save them....
If they want someone to help dig their soil, ownership doesn't change hands. If you want me to help re-roof your house, will you transfer ownership of house to me? So that answers that question.

Lets go with the laughable notion that China made an aggressive move on Greenland, the USA has a base there. So are the US troops going to flee?

You're rambling bizarre scenarios without remembering reality.

One of the issues involves sovereignty.

Who said anything about "ownership"?...
You need to get up to speed on Chinese military ship movement in the Arctic Ocean....

Recent reports (late 2025) indicate an increased presence of Chinese research vessels and occasional warships operating near Alaska and in the U.S. Extended Continental Shelf (ECS), prompting US Coast Guard monitoring....

Fox is the same. Not many good media outlets these days. Short attention span of the audience.

Correct, all these people, hannity, beck, waters, cooper, Maddow, none of it is “news” it’s all opinion shows

What form of democracy?

Webster's definition

democracy

noun

de·moc·ra·cy di-ˈmä-krə-sē

pluraldemocracies
Synonyms of democracy
1
: government by the people : rule of the majority
I … have always believed in democracy, in the elementary liberal doctrine of a self-governing humanity.—G. K. Chesterton

: such as
a
: a form of government in which the people elect representatives to make decisions, policies, laws, etc. according to law

The US is a form of Democracy. I mean, its type of govt is a constitutional republic, but that is a form of democracy by most dictionary definitions. I'll go with Websters and Collins and Oxford.

That is misinformed biased bullshit. They do have a left bias but in 5 years they have failed only TWICE to report the facts. In addition and under the new leadership, they have moved more to the center than in previous years

Overall, we rate CNN moderately left-center biased based on editorial positions by TV hosts that consistently favor the left, while straight news reporting falls just left of center through bias by omission. We also rate them as Mostly Factual in reporting rather than high due to two failed fact checks in the last five years.

AI Overview

CNN generally operates as a source of fact-based reporting in its news segments but is frequently categorized as having a left-leaning bias in its selection of stories, framing, and opinion-driven analysis
. As of 2024–2025, the network has been attempting to pivot towards a more centrist, "fact-first" approach, although it continues to be perceived as more liberal, particularly in its prime-time analysis.
Degree of Opinion vs. Facts
  • Fact-Based Reporting: CNN is largely considered a reliable source for breaking news and 24-hour news updates. Its reporting, especially by dedicated journalists, generally follows standard, fact-based journalistic practices.
  • Analysis and Editorial Bias: Studies generally categorize CNN's editorial stance as "left" or "left-center". Critics often argue that the network mixes opinion with news, particularly during evening, high-profile talk shows.
  • Comparison to Other Networks: While often criticized by conservative audiences as being partisan,, some analyses suggest its news segments are more objective than its opinion or panel segments, and that it leans less far left than some of its competitors.
Factors Affecting Perception
  • 2024-2025 Shift: Under new leadership (Mark Thompson), CNN has been making efforts to reduce liberal bias and increase focus on objective reporting, encouraging reporters to avoid "pre-judging" political figures.

lol, media bias fact check is hardly a credible source in of itself. Have you ever looked at various sites there? They pretty much list all right wing sites as low credibility, and all left wing sites as high credibility.

Media bias fact check would probably rate itself as a left wing bias lol, or should.

Can you claim you enjoy this democracy? The one you keep talking about? the part you ignore so far is the representatives do not follow the same rules.

Group A for instance worked hard to keep the Government operating. Group B worked to keep it shut down tight.

Of all the Western countries, the UK system is the worst IMO. Followed by the US.

I posted an article yesterday that basically backs up what you're saying. Of course it was met with crickets chirping.

But to me it also sure looks like they're building the North American Technate. Since Trump surrounds himself with powerful technocrats, it's kinda hard to say that all the talk of merging countries is just a coincidence.

Democracy is a system. Not just a word for wordsmiths. Congress seldom is on the same set of rails. To claim it is Democracy makes me laugh. Like those who claim Trump is a fascist. You more than likely know much more about the UK than I know. Watching their parliament on TV puzzles me a lot. The USA has multiple governments. And multiple courts that interfere. Even laws made by representatives have been overturned. Should we all feel blessed the Supreme court has the final word? Does that happen in the only democracy known to man, that of Ancient Greeks? They had the true democracy.

The Swiss have a similar system to the Greeks. Almost every law that is passed they have a referendum. Wordsmiths give words definitions. I think Trump has tyrannical tendencies. Not a fascist. Well, not yet, anyway.

Thanks for mentioning the Swiss. Far too many of we living in the USA only function as a piece of this nations system, ie. seldom voters on matters like the Swiss do. That was so helpful you brought up the Swiss.

Switzerland is the closest state in the world to have a direct democracy where citizens may challenge any law voted by the federal assembly. Switzerland’s Executive, Judicial and Legislative institutions are organized on federal, cantonal and communal levels. Switzerland, unlike many of other European states, does not have a President or a Prime Minister, and the country’s citizens are at the pinnacle of power.

Federal Assembly Of Switzerland

The Federal Assembly or the legislature is comprised of the National Council and the Council of States. The Council of States consists of 46 members who represent the cantons. After every four years, citizens of Switzerland vote for 200 members to constitute the National Council. The two chambers of parliament undertake legislative duties, and their sessions in parliament are open for citizens to attend. Any citizen can challenge any law or amendments proposed by the Federal Assembly.

Federal Council Of Switzerland

Six members constitute the Executive branch that is the Federal Council of Switzerland. They engage in what can be termed as the collective presidency and are elected by parliament. Each of these members leads a federal department (ministry). The country’s seven departments are Finances, Economy and Education, Internal Affairs, Defense and Sports, Energy, Traffic and Environment, and Justice.

The members of the Federal Council are from the four top parties in the country, and this greatly helps in forming a stable government. There is no limit to the term of office as a member of the Federal Council.

The President of the Swiss Confederation, a largely ceremonial role, rotates among the members every year. The representative President represents the country in international conferences, sets the agenda to be discussed during the weekly conferences and addresses the citizens on national holidays.

Judiciary Of Switzerland

Heading the judiciary is the Federal Supreme Court. Judges to the Court are elected by the Federal Assembly after every six years. The Supreme Court is the top court of appeal after the cantonal courts. The Supreme Court also receives appeals on administrative rulings of the federal administration.

Cantonal Administrations

Cantons in the Swish Federations organize themselves in respect to laws and policies, the federal constitution and minorities. Every canton has its constitution and elects an average of 5 members to make up the cantonal government. Most of the cantons also have one parliament. The federal government's delegates many of its duties to the cantonal administrations. 6 of the 26 cantons in the country are regarded as half-cantons, but all cantons have equal rights of autonomy and competencies. Cantons have armed police forces and run universities and hospitals and collect income taxes.

Elections And Referenda

The Swiss electorate can vote at least four times on matters of national proposals every year. The Swiss electorate has more say in national and cantonal affairs than anywhere else in the world. The Swiss electorates elect members of the cantonal governments and the Federal Assembly.

Political Parties In Switzerland

Five major parties are represented in the country’s Federal Council. These parties are Free Democratic Party, Christian Democratic Party, Social Democratic Party, Conservative Democratic Party of Switzerland, and Swiss People’s Party.
