No matter what countries do, we aren't going to stop climate change if we can't get countries like China, India, and others on board and I mean more than just lip service. China, in particular, would just absolutely love it if the rest of the world spent into oblivion and beyond and went back to being cavemen in order to fight Climate Change, while they just sit back, laughed, and took over the world, at first economically and later militarily. And the planet would still be doomed.

You will not change China, India, and the other biggest offenders. What you wind up doing is making life miserable and expensive for your very own people while places like China take advantage of us while we fight the big fight. In the end, you sacrifice everything and get nothing in return because you haven't actually fixed the planetwide problem. That's assuming that you believe that man can be successful in fighting mother nature. Even most liberal activists will privately acknowledge and try to hide the fact that the best we can do is limit the increases in global temps, not actually reverse them.
