Time to polish up the muskets and saddle up the horses, boys, Civil War is coming again. Except this time the secessionists could be four Yankee states who want to be a part of Canada.

NY Official Proposes New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts, And Vermont Join Canada As New Province

According to Krueger, New York's values align more closely with Canada's political philosophy than Trump's

"As tensions rise over President-elect Donald Trump's impending second term, a Democratic state senator from New York has suggested a drastic solution: secession. Liz Krueger, chair of the New York State Senate Finance Committee, has proposed that New York leave the United States and join Canada, arguing that Trump's policies threaten the state's progressive values and federal funding, according to Washington Examiner.

Radical Proposals to Counter Trump

Krueger, a prominent Democrat from Manhattan, has gained attention for her unconventional proposals to counter Trump's administration. Among these are withholding federal taxes and a call for New York, along with other liberal states like Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Vermont, to secede and become a province of Canada, per reports from Politico.

"It's not unreasonable to think outside of the box," Krueger stated during an interview with Politico. She cited Trump's planned mass deportations and his threats to withhold federal funding from sanctuary states as reasons for her proposals.

Krueger highlighted the financial stakes involved. New York contributes approximately $362 billion annually in tax revenue to the federal government but relies on $85 billion in federal aid, much of it earmarked for Medicaid. She argued that withholding tax payments could serve as leverage if Trump follows through on his threats to cut funding.

"We're talking a lot of money," Krueger said. "Money we couldn't possibly replace unless we started sending the feds a lot less money."

A Vision of Secession

Krueger's vision of New York joining Canada stems from her frustration with federal policies she perceives as harmful. She first proposed the idea in September, before Trump's election victory.

"Why do I have to leave this country? I love this country," she said. "But if Trump wins a second term, it's not actually my fault or the fault of people in New York. I thought I'd suggest to Canada that, instead of us all trying to illegally cross the border at night, they let us become a new southeast province."

According to Krueger, New York's progressive values align more closely with Canada's political philosophy than with Trump's America. She believes this alignment makes her proposal "probably sellable" in Ottawa, Canada's capital.

While Krueger's proposals have stirred debate, they have also drawn criticism and scepticism. Long Island Assemblymember Chuck Lavine cautioned against escalating tensions.

"It's not our job to pick up the pitchforks that have been dropped by his many followers," Lavine stated, referencing Trump's supporters.

Even some Democrats have expressed concerns about the feasibility of withholding federal taxes or secession. Trump himself, who received 43% of New York's vote in 2024, has pledged to support key infrastructure projects in the state, including the Gateway Tunnel and Penn Station renovations, per Washington Examiner.

"I'll believe it when I see it," said Manhattan state Senator Brad Hoylman-Sigal, reflecting the scepticism among left-leaning lawmakers about Trump's promises to aid New York.

Broader Implications

Trump's administration is expected to wield significant power, with a Republican majority in Congress and a conservative-leaning judiciary. This dominance has left New York Democrats searching for ways to protect vulnerable communities and uphold progressive policies.

During Trump's first term, New York's Democratic majority passed legislation expanding voting rights, bolstering abortion access, and forcing the release of Trump's state tax returns. However, the current political climate poses new challenges.

"With the courts aligned largely against New York at the federal level and the other two branches of government under Republican control, it's going to be tough sledding," Hoylman-Sigal said, according to Washington Examiner.

A Bold Statement or a Real Plan?

Krueger's proposal to join Canada has sparked conversations about the limits of state resistance to federal power. While the idea may seem far-fetched, it reflects the depth of discontent among progressive lawmakers who feel their values are increasingly at odds with those of the federal government."

I have a better idea. Why don't those four governors just move to Canada? I'm pretty sure most of the people of those states want to stay Americans, plus doing so would deprive all those Americans of the constitutional rights. I think Trump has a case to have this official arrested as a seditionist trying to incite a revolt against the USA.

Well, then, that is obviously a problem with those in NY setting these anti-American policies.

As tensions rise? The guy isn't even if office yet! Does she understand that the president-elect represents DEMOCRACY and the WILL OF THE MAJORITY?

Radical Proposals to Counter Trump
Counter a guy who has not even done a thing yet to be countered?
Just ask yourself what democrats and media would have said had Harris won and we were talking like this about leaving the USA and revolting against the government?! If the J6 people were insurrectionists just for protesting the capitol, what does that make them???

"It's not unreasonable to think outside of the box,"
So now this isn't unreasonable thought? And why? Because Trump intends to deport invading illegal aliens bankrupting our country?

I have an even better idea: arrest her and have her shot at sunrise for conspiring against the United States.

But if Trump wins a second term, it's not actually my fault or the fault of people in New York.
Actually, half of NYC voted for Trump up to 85% in many counties!

I know people in NY, and their values do not align with hers or NYs at all. Further, I know people in Canada who consider it a fascist police state.

Actually, half of NYC voted for Trump up to 85% in many counties!

Vote rigging. Based on the real votes, Republicans should have gotten some 45% of the Congressional seats of New York state, instead they only got 7, I think.

Krueger wouldn't like being part of Canada. They still have opposing political parties and thus might choose conservative candidates. The lefty Trudeau has become unpopular and Poilievere, a conservative is now popular. If Krueger wants to live in a solidly left nation, here are the choices: China, Vietnam, North Korea, Cuba, Venezuela, or Laos. No conservative opposition in those nations.

I'm pretty sure the tax revenue for the entire country of Canada is less than the 100 billion a year New York State receives from the Fed a.k.a the US tax payer. Whoever dreamed up this succession idea is a retard moron.

The rift between New England and the rest of the country, especially the south and west, has been there since the founding of the country. They been threatening to secede since the 1790's. Yankees never considered 'secession' to be 'illegal n stuff' until they hit on a scheme to subsidize their own corporate welfare projects by looting the South, and voted for railroad lawyer Lincoln to steal it for them.

Hopefully they're stupid enough to actually do it; then we can laugh when Canada tells them to fuck off, and then tell them they can't come back. lol

Who the hell would want them back???? Nobody will die to keep Vermont or Massachusetts in the U.S.

Fine. Let em go. Guarantee a red America for generations.

East coast leftards used to be the worst. Horrible elitists. Now they're not even close, they're mostly just stupid.

If the blue states just refuse to allow Federal Taxes in their states, tRump and his clowns would bankrupt the US in about months. The Clown Car has already threatened to not send federal money to California. Fine, don't. And CA refuses to send any of the Federal Tax moneys to the Feds. Last time I checked, the Blue States are in the black while the red states are in the red.

The 2024-2025 budget deficit in California is 37.9 billion. Only a loon would think that puts the State in the black.

Surely this proposal is complete lunacy simply to promote more Chaos . More theatre effectively .
It is therefore something funded and pushed for solely by Deep State .

Longer term it fits neatly into the strategy of weakening the US so much that some sort of manufactured internal mayhem results .

The budget deficit for 2022 and 2023 was 68 billion. For 2024, it's about a 26 billion. You have to tighten your belt like that to get out of the deficit but you can't do it all at once.

And the Deficit has nothing to do with the money that CA sends to the feds versus how much the feds give back to them. 1/3rd of all income taxes paid in CA goes to the Federal Government. I think the percentage is 31% to CA from the feds while CA gives 33%+ to the Federal Government. The excess is redistributed to states like West Virginia and Mississippi who need it just to keep their doors open.
