It takes a little piece of the poor person's freedom away..and creates a subtle social difference.

I remember never taking free lunches as a kid..because of the stigma of handing in a specially colored ticket that designated me as being one of the poor kids...so perhaps I take it personally.

Show me where the program says anywhere that the food stamp program is intended only for nutritional healthy food? Isn't the problem in this country that mostly none of our food meets that standard? Not unless you cook and make it yourself.

No one plans on being sick or poor. What I'm waiting for is when some day when some of the people here calling for bread and water for SNAP recipients get sick themselves and are told they cannot have anything but cabbage, beets and corn to live on!

Just replace SNAP recipient with ANY OTHER GROUP (illegal alien, Gitmo detainee, Jew, Black, etc), and tell me the government wants to restrict what they are allowed to eat to see just how wrong you really are.

Sure it is. Just as you were forced into the undesirable situation of being injured, many people are forced by others through no fault of their own onto food stamps. Why should a person working in a warehouse badly injured and forced onto food stamps have to live an austere life through no fault of their own even when it doesn't save a penny?

Bottom line: this is pure discrimination that would never fly if it were any other group. Worse, it is entirely unAmerican and unconstitutional that in a country founded on liberty that people should be calling for the government to take away the freedom of one segment of the population, even when there is absolutely no benefit in doing so.
