First SNAP Ban on Candy and Soda Set To Become Law

So in other words, you are a supporter of the caste system. The rich are entitled to liberty but the poor do not.

Wouldn't it be a better system to simply help raise the poor up so that more of them were rich too?

That is Americanism. What you are arguing is Fascism.
If wishes were horses then beggers would ride. They have been, but thank god Trump is putting an end to that shit.

You deserve the minimum, and not a farthing more to supplement your survival.

Support your own fucking ass without begging for handouts. Never thought of that I guess.

I do support my own ass, Moron. I bet I made far more money than you before I retired. And I am not begging for anything much less any handout. Shit, you just don't get it, like talking to an idiot wall. I am talking PRINCIPLE. I guess I am the only real bone fide conservative constitutionalist here.

I cannot believe some people here are literally arguing for fascism, statism and oppression while thinking of themselves as "conservatives."

I get now why the left hate most conservatives: some people are just mean-spirited, selfish, stingy, and begrudging, and hide behind a false facade telling themselves they are bad conservatives if they are also fair, reasonable and compassionate.

No wonder there is such a divide in this country.

BS, I answered your question. It's called diabetes and taxpayers fund should not support it. It really is that simple.

You actually seriously think you are funding diabetes by allowing a person the freedom to eat the occasional candy bar or drink a can of soda? Wow. What if that soda is sugar free? Gonna get diabetes off that too, Genius?

You use government services. I think we need to take a look at YOUR life to see what changes we need to make to YOUR life so you are less of a burden on society.

So why areyou getting $200 in free stuff, being so successful and all?

They can certainly purchase junk food with their own money, and as far as I'm concerned drugs, being a libertarian, but not shit on the the taxpayers dime.

Shithead, I could buy and sell you. You have NO say in my living.

They can certainly purchase junk food with their own money,

Then what is really accomplished? Tell me.
  • Did you save any money? Nope, because SNAP recipients still get the same allotment to spend.
  • And if they spend their own money and spend it all wolfing down bags of candy and cases of cola and get diabetes, then Medicaid or whatever will STILL pay for it.
Denying poor people candy and soda is a braindead errand to bait fools like you into thinking the government is actually working and cutting waste and fraud, while actually accomplishing nothing, while still not addressing the real problem, the idiotic bureaucracy of government itself.

Think about it: if government actually ran these programs effectively, no one would care about a can of pop. So you are really mad at government, but since you can't take it out on Washington, you take it out on poor, helpless, defenseless (and often innocent) people.

OK, you can spend your own money on that shit, but not ours. Agreed?

GO JERK OFF ON SOMEONE ELSE, PINHEAD.

Pay for that out of your pocket. When you see a Mom use an EBT that doesn't allow booze, buy her a six pack! When candy is banned, buy something for the kids!

I think if you are on welfare, you shouldn't be buying booze or tobacco. I've no issue with this, I'm saying, for the kids....let them have a little treat every now and then.

I see nothing wrong with letting the kids have little treat now and then. Look at it like this, the government gives tax breaks for all kinds of things. $7500 if you buy an EV...i see no issue them spending $2.00 every now and then for a candy bar...

Pretty funny. Years before you joined here, we ran a thread where many of us took a test to measure our political stance and I tested as the most conservative person on this board. I'm not the one here defending taking a statist (even fascist) position.

Think about it, Lisa, you are defending others making decisions on how another person should choose to live and eat based on how much YOU approve of their choices.

Yet you would be incensed if the government did that to you.

Even when it makes no difference to you or costs you different either way, you still think you have the right to do it just because you can to a subset of society unable to stand up for and defend themselves.
People are free to do what they want WITH THEIR OWN MONEY.

When they spend OUR money, it can come with restrictions. And it already does.

They can have a $2.00 treat. Are you saying that unless WE pay for it, the mother can’t come up with $2? GMAFB.

You make a very good point I had not even considered. A great many SNAP recipients are mothers with children. Can you imagine having several kids and having to tell them that sorry, they won't be allowed to buy any more candy or cola because some pompous, self-righteous ass decided you are not entitled to them?

I WILL SAY IT AGAIN: I don't want to give the government the power to be telling people how they can eat! Especially under force of law. No matter who they are.

That can ONLY lead us all down a slippery slope.

WTF is telling anyone what they can and can't eat, much less "under the force of law"?

"now and then?"

Do you spend 10% of your monthly grocery budget on soda?

According to a 2016 report from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, sweetened beverages, including soda, are among the most commonly purchased items by recipients of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program — or SNAP.

SNAP households spend about 10 percent of food dollars on sugary drinks, which is about three times more than the amount they spend on milk. In New York City alone, as we've reported, this translates into more than $75 million in sugary drink purchases each year that are subsidized by U.S. taxpayers.

Where is that written? I bet some welfare recipients at some point in their lives paid a ton in taxes, more than you.

When they spend OUR money, it can come with restrictions. And it already does.
But it ISN'T your money. It is THEIR money, given them by the government from the treasury. And the government's money is just as much one person's as anothers.

Your money isn't even your money. It was your employer's, they just traded it with you in exchange for a little labor.

How would you feel if your company told you what you could and could not do with it?

I'm still waiting for you to tell me how denying a disabled person the right to buy food with food money as they see fit costs you even a nickel more.

Bullshit, it is OUR money, and WE decide how it gets spent! It is nothing more than charity funnelled by government and certainly not "their money".
