Favorite Ronald Reagan quotes

"No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Actually, a government bureau is the nearest thing to eternal life we'll ever see on this earth!"
~Ronald Reagan~

“I didn’t leave the Democratic Party. It left me.”
~Ronald Reagan~

"Balancing the budget is a little like protecting your virtue: You just have to learn to say "no."

(Comment by Ronald Reagan to the surgeons who were about to operate on him after the assassination attempt (March 30, 1981)

"Please tell me you're all Republicans."

There are many that I like from him.

"I know in my heart that man is good. That what is right will always eventually triumph. And there's purpose and worth to each and every life."

I think that Ron's most interesting quote is where he made this speech claiming that the adoption of Medicare would introduce socialized medicine to the US, and would be a foot in the door for the socialists to destroy our freedoms. While he was at it, he came out against Social Security, as well. I guess that I am surprised that he didn't come out against Red Skelton as a commie sleeper agent.

"Government does not solve problems; it subsidizes them."
~Ronald Reagan~

The Federal government philosophy.

"If it moves, tax it. If it stops moving, subsidize it. If it keeps moving, regulate it."

You may not know this but Germany was the first to institute mandatory health insurance and had a massive nanny state as it taxed to death the top 4% in Germany. He also lowered taxes on the average German and ran up debt. In fact, he ran up so much debt that he forbade budgets from being filed after 1935 so as to quell his critics from issuing a warning regarding its ill effects on future generations. Sound familiar? Hitler then made sure that the economy was centralized enough to the point that all money flowed into the Nazi war machine. Money was either channeled directly to the military or to the nanny state in order to appease a war weary nation that was engaged in genocide.

If you really think that Obama and company care about the poor then good for you. However, I think they care as much about them as Hitler did. In fact, they care as much for the people of nations that hate the US, like Pakistan, that they give billions to every year.

The issue here is control and influence, and not charity and philanthropy. Reagan was correct.
