Enough with the Trump tariffs are destroying the economy threads

MAGA just loves to oversimplify everything.

A "tariff" is not an all-or-nothing term. There are variables, like the products and industries the tariff is on, the size of the tariff, exceptions to tariffs, and duration of tariffs. They are usually carefully targeted, specific and tactical. In Normal World.

It's like "regulation". There are a zillion types of regulation. They're not all good or bad, just because they're regulations.

Placing large, sweeping tariffs on our closest friends, coupled with insults, threats and mockery, is a fucking stupid way to apply tariffs.

Aggressive, random, loud, caveman tariff policy. Very Trumpian, indeed. What a shock.

With universal tariffs? Thats stupid. As referenced by the stock market decline and fears of a recession. Further, he said it was because of drugs. Then he said it was because of trade. then he paused it. Then the next day he announced more tariffs on Canada.

Trump's tariffs against Canada are a "Wag the Dog" strategy. Create a fictional or made-up war or dispute to keep his moronic base all hyped up. That is why Trump can't make up his mind as to the rationale for the tariffs because there is none, or at least one that he will publicly admit to.

You can’t come up with many examples because the weighted average of Canadian tariffs is less than 2%.

This is going to hurt Americans and the economy far more than it’s going to benefit the sliver of the country that are dairy farmers.

As usual, no link to your numbers.

Worth it if it brings them to the table to negotiate it.

Why does the US always have to be the patsy in these issues?

Now what really hurt the world economy was the Left shutting down the entire world economy while Joe Biden was in power, something no one will ever own.
That happened when Trump was in power genius

too bad.

Gotta love the Left!

Do you think they could address the billions, on top of billions they taxed, spent, and caused massive inflation on, for the Green, New, Scam? It was OK to do that to the American public, but not ok to raise tariffs to force manufacturers back?!?!?!

Just like Reagan, Trump is between a rock, and a hard place. Reagan had to do what he had to, because before him was good ole Jimmy. Trump has a predecessor worse than Jimmy was. It is going to take a while, but we must remember it took 4 years for Biden and crew to fu** it up! If I remember correctly, it took Reagan about 20 months to come out the other side. It will probably be somewhat quicker under Trump, since money flowing in to expand will be much greater. Reagan had to get existing industries mostly already here to grow. All Trump has to do is bring back production already happening elsewhere. And how does he do it? By lower tax if the product is built here, and no incoming tariff!
If you thought that the economic fallout from Covid was bad, try the Green New Deal.

They have only just begun.

And the flock just loves the insults, threats and mockery, like this is a middle school playground.

Those are known for being very helpful and professional ways to conduct important international affairs and maintain critical long term relationships.

Because the trade issue regarding excessive tariffs on US goods has been around for decades, and he is the only one who seems to want to fix it.
Taxing Canada and Mexico is not fixing trade issues. If you disagree then explain how

it's a database without any entries, you dipshit.

You made the number claim, you back it up.
Well, when I click on it it gives the data for each country that Canada has imports from.

AHS is the average effective applied tariff weighted. For the US, it's 1.08%.

We aren't taxing them, we are applying tariffs, which is one of the enumerated functions of the federal government.

the fix is getting them to the bargaining table on a host of issues related to our trade and our mutual borders.

Oh, because you believe the fake concern about fentanyl pouring over the Canadian border?
