Slavs are a linguistic community. Slavs by origin are only those who descended from the Huns: Western Slavs, Ukrainians and steppe Russians. Balts and Balkans are peoples close to the Germans and not the Slavs. They were Slavicized by the Avars in the 7-10th centuries.

In Russia, enmity is inflated precisely against the original Slavs - Poles, Ukrainians and Czechs. And they want to be friends with the "Germans" - Serbs and Belarusians. It's not easy.
