I suppose i'm a tad idealistic voting for peace here....~S~
Were that true, the "clergy opposition" should have/would have been the first focus of the Shah's "repression".Again, whose fault is that?
We let the Shah systematically wipe out any credible secular oppossition, until the Clergy were the only ones left.
a.k.a. removal of theocratic based violent opposition that would block/hinder a more egalitarian restructure of the government ruling the nation of Iran.Peace through Victory ( War)
"Peace" at what Price ????I suppose i'm a tad idealistic voting for peace here....~S~
Yes. I believe this war is necessary for peace. You mean the both part?
For 47+ years Iran has been the source of turmoil, violence, and hostility towards Peace in the Middle East, hence long overdue for de-fang and dis-enfranchise the current ruling regime and replace with more peaceful, humane and rational one.Yes. I believe this war is necessary for peace.

They are exhaling their last gasp at this time ...I don't see Iran having the means to fight back here........~S~

IRAN can go to fcking HellIran now publicly states that before it will consider any concessions to the US, the US must first meet it's obligations of restraining Israel in Lebanon, free up billions in funding and accept that Iran and not the USA controls the Strait of Hormuz.
After those conditions are met and verified, Iran might resume peace talks. If the US does not "behave", then Iran may consider further actions until such compliance is demonstrated by the US.
Im sure there were good people in Germany WWII.Um, the IRANIAN PEOPLE themselves are kind, generous, warm hearted people.
It's the DICTATORS that are evil.
I want no harm to come to the Iranian people. Take out the RG and hardliner leaders.
I could support helping Iran rebuild if a moderate, democratic leadership was installed.
Were that true, the "clergy opposition" should have/would have been the first focus of the Shah's "repression".
It's a shared fault since those who could have suppressed/removed the theocratic opposition, didn't !
Actually, I think our foreign policy should be like Star Trek's Prime Directive. We shouldn't interfere in any country's internal affairs.Despite errors of the past, can we assume you support removal of theocratic regime and it's oppression now in the present, or are you just posturing to avoid looking like your radical Leftist persona has been here ???
Go to hell Nazi !Substitute Israel for Iran and the statement becomes accurate.
You are in the wrong nation and wrong part of the world Komrade Joe.Actually, it's a lot more complicated than that.
When the CIA overthrew the democratically elected Mossedegh, they found allies in Iran's Shi'ite Clergy. The Shah saw the Clergy as an ally in supporting the Pahlevi Dynasty (as they had the previous Qajar and Safavid dynasties)
The clergy turned on the Shah for two reasons. 1) His utter incompetence in running the country and 2) his attempts to impose decadent western values on it.

I also think we should stop propping up Ukraine because that thing is dragging out for years with no resolution in sight. Which is hardly a leftist position.
We should also stop propping up Taiwan, given our own legal position is that it is part of China.
