The SHOCKING Truth About American Education

You're not talking about fairness.Well, if I'm to be painted with a MAGA brush, I'll shut up about fairness and let you change the MAGA culture on your own.
"African Americans today are much better educated than they were in 1968 but still lag behind whites in overall educational attainment. More than 90 percent of younger African Americans (ages 25 to 29) have graduated from high school, compared with just over half in 1968—which means they’ve nearly closed the gap with white high school graduation rates. They are also more than twice as likely to have a college degree as in 1968 but are still half as likely as young whites to have a college degree."![]()
For many reasons, Blacks in this country tend to be less educated than Whites so the numbers you cite are hardly surprising.
Given the vast amount of digital, readily available information and knowledge on pretty much every conceivable subject, why do you suppose mankind hasn’t tapped into this vast potential to educate the masses?this is why i advocate school choice Mr B.......~S~
I just said upthread how the poor DC schools (where the majority of kids are illegitimate) spend MUCH MORE PER STUDENT than nearby Fairfax County, and yet the DC students score much worse than the Fairfax kids.Local property based funding sets up a system of haves and poor have nots. The haves get excellent educations and opportunities. The have nots get substandard education, run down facilities, and poor opportunities.
Funding for public schools should be uniform across the particular state. Control can remain local but all students would have the same opportunity.
You can't separate the two. Whoever is writing the checks is in control.Funding for public schools should be uniform across the particular state. Control can remain local but all students would have the same opportunity.
DC is not a state. I am referring to states.I just said upthread how the poor DC schools (where the majority of kids are illegitimate) spend MUCH MORE PER STUDENT than nearby Fairfax County, and yet the DC students score much worse than the Fairfax kids.
It’s not the money. It’s the culture.
How else do you explain the poor Jewish kids in NYC, children of (married) impoverished immigrants who couldn’t even speak English, getting top scores on the city’s standardized tests? These kids barely had a pot to piss in, and they won free college educations.
Actually, you can.You can't separate the two. Whoever is writing the checks is in control.
I'll have to take your word that ALL students get all that support. We’re not “letting” kids fail. They are all provided educational opportunities, funded by the state, and we have special remedial courses for the slow learners to work with them. We give them Pell Grants to take vocational training if they want, or take a terminal AA degree at a community college. But at some point you have to face that all people are not equal - and some are just better motivated, more disciplined, more intelligent.
My wife tutored a high school student to apply for college, a daughter of immigrants. She was brilliant but her grades were only fair since she missed a lot of school babysitting her siblings. But unless a child is mentally disabled, there is NO excuse for dropping out of high school. None. Neither is there an excuse for a 20-year-old to ALREADY have two illegitimate children and no job training.
More support services, yes, more admin spots, no.You offer absolutely no solution but the usual liberal “let’s give them more money” - when it’s been shown that schools with higher funding do not do better than those with less.
Culture needs to change but shame is not the answer. Show those kids that they can succeed even if everyone else fails. What needs to change is the CULTURE in these environments where a high school degree is not seen as an absolute necessity, and teen pregnancy is the norm. What we need to invoke is a sense of SHAME in a 17-year-old with a baby, and now pregnant again, and a 10th grade education. We need to stop making excuses for people because they’re poor.
Every Jew in NYC not getting top scores. You have een shown black kids from NYC who have received scholarships from all the IVY league schools. Drop the white jewish supremacy woman, because it's not true.I just said upthread how the poor DC schools (where the majority of kids are illegitimate) spend MUCH MORE PER STUDENT than nearby Fairfax County, and yet the DC students score much worse than the Fairfax kids.

Actually, you can't. Whoever pays the bills has the power. If they say "jump" ...Actually, you can.
Reality is that the government has always controlled health care. And reality also shows us that government is more efficient in handling certain things. So then there is no reason why one school in a city gets twice as much funding as another school in that city. That can be controlled. All you right wing nuts talk about is money. Everybody pays taxes one way or the other. Now I get real tired of you dumb ass right wingers thinking you can make up what liberals believe. The shit you guys believe always fails. So how about you guys come up with some new ideas and stop trying to tell liberals what they think?Actually, you can't. Whoever pays the bills has the power. If they say "jump" ...
This is like the liberal delusion that we can make government pay for health care, but not control health care. Reality just doesn't work that way.
Yes, the programs are available to all students. Parents who care about their kids encourage them.I'll have to take your word that ALL students get all that support.
Sad, but I had to go downtown 3 afternoons a week during the school week for medical treatment for an entire year. Didn’t get home until 7:30 pm. I still got excellent grades. My wife tutored a high school student to apply for college, a daughter of immigrants. She was brilliant but her grades were only fair since she missed a lot of school babysitting her siblings.
Like what? We already have remedia classes, free lunches, free breakfasts, special classes for non-English speakers. Be specific. What else could we do?More support services, yes, more admin spots, no.
Yes, shame IS the answer. A high school student with a baby or two, or a 25-year-old with four babies and four babies should be ashamed. Or at least embarrassed.Culture needs to change but shame is not the answer. Show those kids that they can succeed even if everyone else fails.
Yes, black kids have received scholarships from all Ivies - where Asians and whites with better grades and scores were rejected. Fully 2/3rd of black kids in Ivies would have been rejected if they were white.Every Jew in NYC not getting top scores. You have een shown black kids from NYC who have received scholarships from all the IVY league schools.
You have been shown that Jews emphasize higher education and not having children until after marriage - and that has led to their greater success. Is showing that good choices lead to greater success somehow being a “Jewish supremacist”?Drop the white jewish supremacy woman, because it's not true.
Stop demanding that other cultures kowtow to yours with special favoritism. Instead, change your OWN culture that has 75% of black babies born out of wedlock. If you want to change culture, change the culture that teaches one group is superior to all the others, then creates funding policies to make certin that preferered group is given all the resources it needs.
Before all this wokeness, adults realized that the intelligent and motivated kids would be slowed down by the average (and worse) kids, so they had “tracking” into which all the smart kids were put together, the average kids put together, and the slow kids put together. You know, if there is a group of people actually getting the short end of the stick, here, it those kids who are intelligent and motivated, but cannot receive the education they deserve because teachers are dealing with all the kids who are neither.
That’s because money doesn’t solve the issue when the culture is the problem. My state has one of the highest $$ per student, with one of the lowest returns for it
