I am a Democrat. I will consider voting for DeSantis if he wins the Republican primary. I agree with the Democrats on economic and environmental issues, and with the Republicans on crime, race, and immigration.

At least I agree with what Republican politicians say about immigration. The Republican Donor Class wants more immigrants. By competing for jobs immigrants enable employers to hold the line on pay increases. By competing for places to live immigrants enable landlords to raise rents.

I like immigrants. I have been in love with a few. Nevertheless, the high rate of immigration has costs I cannot easily afford to pay.

I define critical race race theory as any effort to make whites feel guilty about high rates of black poverty and incarceration. Desantis is against critical race theory. So am I.

Desantis has many of Trump's more popular stands without Trump's glaring deficiencies of character, intellect, and personality.

Deposing scores of illegal immigrants into enclaves thick with rich liberals was a stroke of genius on DeSantis's part, and one of the reasons I may vote for him. For decades rich liberals have forced reforms that made them feel virtuous, but which did not negatively impact their lives. Lower middle class whites and working class whites had to pay the price for the "ideals" of rich liberals.

DeSantis says to these rich liberals, "You are in favor of sanctuary cities? Here is a new batch of homeless immigrants. Invite them into your homes."
