(07-08) 07:59 PDT Nashville, Tenn. (AP) --
A couple pleaded guilty Thursday to hiring a stripper for their son's 16th birthday party and were sentenced to two years probation.

Landon and Anette Pharris, who were charged with contributing the delinquency of a minor, also were ordered to take parenting classes.

The parents hired the stripper to perform at a September party attended by about a dozen young people.

Cassandra Joyce Park, 29, who police say used the stage name "Sassy," danced for a few hours before partygoers took up a collection and paid her $150 more to fully disrobe, Anette Pharris said.

The stripper and the man she was with were also granted probation.

Police were tipped off to the party by a photo developer at a drug store who saw pictures of the occasion.

Pharris said after being arrested that she tried to do something special for her son.

"We even had grandpa there," she said.

You would rather them buy the kid a keg?

Neither a keg or stripper would be a good idea...

It's not as if 16yr old males need any sexual encouragement from their parents ... jeesh...

Just for argument sake.

1. Is there a legal age for someone NOT to see a naked woman's body; be it a stripper or on the movie screen?

2. There wasn't any sexual contact - or contact of any kind I imagine.

3. Did these kids see anything they hadn't seen before?

Was this really sooooo bad?

Superbowel..National TV..lots of kids saw a tit..This is BS..imo

My honest opinion... Better to see it at home than somewhere on the street.. I'm *assuming* the parents have a pretty decent relationship with their son, and felt that he was mature enough.. The stripper didn't *have* to take the extra $150 to get naked - she KNEW the kids were underaged...

First and foremost, is it illegal for a minor to see a stripper? If so, then the argument ends there. You may feel its a stupid law, but if it exists, then there really isn't much more to say about it, unless we are debating whether or not such a law SHOULD exist.

If it isn't illegal for a minor to see a stripper with parental consent, then I have no problem with it....IF all of the parents of all of the children present knew there was a stripper at the party and they said ok. (aside from finding it bizarre and a little gross...nothing sexier than getting all turned on in front of your mom...eeww).

However, just like parents need to sign off on their children seeing R-rated movies, parents of a minor should be required to "sign off" on their child being grinded on by a naked adult 13 years older than them. You might also want to ask yourselves if you would be OK with your 16 year old daughters going to "blowjob parties" where a sex expert teaches them proper techniques on how to give head and lets them practice on dildos...hey, at least the sex expert would give them safe sex tips...right?

You may feel that it isn't a problem for your child, but unless you are going to take legal, financial, emotional, moral responsibility for every child at that party...then you don't get to make those types of decisions for them.

You can think that other parents are prudes...or idiots because they let their children see all the violence they want but get shocked at a boobie...but bottom line is: It isn't your kid...and you don't get to make that call for them.

What happened to the good old days...were kids snuck around and watched porn videos while their parents were sleeping??? LOL.

If the parents did it without any of the *other* parents knowing, that's an issue that needs to be addressed on an individual basis - if the other parents feel they have ground for legal action, they're entitled to take it.

What I would allow MY child to do may not be what my neighbor would allow THEIR child to do..

If it was illegal, the stripper holds an awful lot of responsibility, in my mind, just by staying, performing, and adding on a little extra for more money.

Or an Iron...or a Swiffer?

The parents are wrong to get their 16 year old, and his 12 friends, a stripper. One could argue that if it was just their son, it would be OK, but it wasn't. And the "stripper or keg" is a false dilemma if I ever saw one.

Sure it is Jeff.. so is showing a PG-13 movie to an 8 year old..
So what do you do, press charges or not? No, you make sure you kid is in a safe respectable place and if you don't, maybe you should be charged too...
