I haven't been reading your posts. Looking back at them, yes, the Left has become unhinged, and that's half the problem.

Yet I keep seeing threats of a civil war from the Right. Maybe they've never heard of "two wrongs don't make a right".

As I said, if this is the best you can do, do it. Sometimes the expression of impotent rage provides a helpful catharsis.

Part of the problem is that we have radicals and reactionaries who are passing themselves as liberals and conservatives. If you embrace tribalism and feel it’s necessary to demonize the opposition, you are an extremist. People like this have no interest in listening or engaging in discourse.

In being on this forum a few years now, I've noted that most of the total idiots are on the Left. But over time I've been surprised that some conservatives I thought were fairly intelligent and reasonable people go off into deep end just as badly with loony conspiracy theory about the Moon being hollow or even shooting a victim not just until they are subdued and helpless, not even stopping after they are down, but even continue firing into the person until they totally stop MOVING.

Let me start spraying you with 9mm fire and see if you just lay there unmoving not reacting to the pain or trying to protect yourself. If it is a .45, you might still move just from the hydrostatic shock.

BOTTOM LINE: Many on the Left ARE communist and socialist sympathizers who want anarchy and hate their country, but there are enough on the Left that are real bloodthirsty violent Neocons as well. I've even been stalked by a few.

What I've noticed is that while there are quite a few intelligent and reasonable people here, nearly all conservative, for many, when push comes to shove, when it really gets down to it, when a lot of conservatives or maybe republicans or "Right-Wing" disagree, their methods are NO BETTER than the worst on the Left.

You people all use THE SAME METHODS.

Many on the Left and the Right are just as bad as the other, use the exact same methods, and both act like stupid schoolchildren.

I'll entertain any intelligent discussion.

The problem isn’t left or right. The problem is ideology.

So its Left and Rightwing ideology. Used to be that the two parties were not that different, the GOP was more about jobs and business and national defense and the DNC was more about social programs and civil rights and helping the needy. In other words: the two necessary sides of the complete coin. WE needed a little or some of ALL of that.

But then the two parties drifted FAR apart. I'm probably not the best person to judge the GOP other than to say they've gone more towards corporate welfare and interests of the rich but the DNC has gone off the chart with radical, anti-American, anarchistic socialism. Look at the number here who rant we need to be more like Europe! I thought we were the ALTERNATIVE to them.

It’s not about left or right ideology, it’s about people’s belief systems and how ideology works within it. Most people react the same way regardless of what they believe. People are tribal. Very few are independent thinkers, though most think they are.

Your OP is a good example by assuming that liberals and conservatives behave in certain ways. My observation on this site is that it is conservatives who behave the way you think liberals behave.

And I’m not a liberal. I’m a free market capitalist. I grew up on a diet of Ayn Rand, Margaret Thatcher was my hero, and Reagan was the best President of my life. But many here think I’m a liberal because I attack Trump and his diehard supporters because it’s my observation that they behave in the way you describe liberals in your OP.

I've been here since 2005. I used to spend a lot of time upstairs in Politics and other such threads. But after awhile, I came to the conclusion that this place is mostly a wasteland of partisans who aren't interested in having engaging discussions. They - both liberals and conservatives - are mostly interested in posting things that confirm their biases, defending their tribe, and tossing ad hominems at those who disagree with them.

To think that it is only one side or the other is doing it means that you are clueless and don't see your own biases.
