Commutation of Stone Sentence Correct Move

To toss a first time offender in prison because of a stupid little misspeak in an illegal investigation by seditious Obama thugs was unacceptable......at least Trump did it now in the open instead of wait until after the election like Clinton and Obama did....
Thatā€™s a lie. Trumps DOG indicted Stone and he was found guilty by a jury in court. Thatā€™s called law and order. Something that Trump obviously thinks he is above. Barr oild have dropped the charges of he thought there were not warranted. Can you explain why he didnā€™t?

What you are failing to realize is that Stone is a Senior Fucking Citizen, a first time non-violent offender, and the appropriate penalty was probation and rehabilitation, not sending him to the pen.

Further, the Jury was tainted, for the judge not to realize that is a shame.
BFD

Yeah, BFD.

Was the Stone commutation about Trump's buddy or was it just a political hack to keep his base in check?
Relying on what right-wing media says doesn't seem to fair well.

"President Donald Trump has been disappointed in right-wing media for not giving him more credit for pardoning longtime advisor Roger Stone."

ā€œA senior administration official said there were serious divisions among Trumpā€™s aides and allies over Stoneā€™s case, with some cautioning that keeping him out of prison could be politically risky. Among those opposed was Attorney General William P. Barr, who called the prosecution ā€˜righteousā€™ in an interview Wednesday with ABC News, the official said, adding that those pushing Trump to show loyalty to Stone included Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.), who is close to the president,ā€ The Washington Post reported Saturday.
ā€œBy Saturday, Trump had grown frustrated that he was not getting more credit from conservative media and others for the Stone announcement, the official said. A second administration official said Trump had been warned that the commutation could depress his lagging poll numbers, but he wanted to make a statement against the Russia investigation and help Stone, and he personally worked to craft the messaging to defend the commutation,ā€ the newspaper reported.
Trump apparently thought he would receive more credit if he bowed to the pressure to commute Stoneā€™s prison sentence. "

Commuting Stone was the correct move, without a doubt.

Stone is a senior citizen, a non-violent first time offender. To send him to prison would have been an outrage.

Had the judge said that Stone would get put on probation or community service, that would have been fine. But he isn't a dangerous fellow and there is plenty of reason to think that he can be rehabilitated without going to the penitentiary.

Further, the trial he did have was unjust. The broad who was jury foreman hated his guts before the trial started. The judge didn't want to give Stone a new trial, Trump did the undoubtably right thing by taking matters into his own hands.

This is a good example the utter hypocrisy. Non violent drug offenders donā€˜t get that option. Just white collar criminals.

Actually, a LOT of drug pushers get off without imprisonment. If Mr. Stone was a black teenager convicted of a 1st time non-violent offense, libs would have a conniption if a judge wanted to send him to prison for life.
But but but he's not.

Do you really want to go down the road of Judge Napolitanos opinions? Cause heā€™s got some whoopers that donā€™t go Trumps way

Every case against political conservatives and/or Republicans in Washington DC should, automatically, be vacated for the last 60 years. Then the trial would be moved to an impartial venue.

Roger Stone Sentencing Was Politicized, Prosecutor Plans to Testify
The prosecutorā€™s supervisor said that the case was being treated differently because of the defendantā€™s relationship with the president, according to planned testimony.
What point are you trying to make?
Indeed. It's almost as though "being treated differently" was presumed worse "because of the defendantā€™s relationship with the president" instead of much better. That must explain why so many quit:aug08_031:

He was never pardoned, it was a clemency, to allow him to stay out of jail and fight to clear his name.

American Thinker

Justice for Roger Stone
By Grant Baker
July 11, 2020

Excerpt:

On Friday, July 10th, President Trump commuted Roger Stoneā€™s prison sentence. The clemency order, not to be confused with a pardon, allows Stone to fight in the appeals court to clear his name against what many consider a legal railroading. Friends of Stone claim that Trump had offered a pardon only to be rebuffed by Stone who asked for clemency to remain out of jail as he fights through the appeals court.

The decision to grant clemency came after a series of revelations which proved that Muellerā€™s team of prosecutors had tampered with evidence, manufactured statements, and buried exonerating evidence in their case against General Flynn, prompting the Justice Department to drop the case out of embarrassment. Muellerā€™s prosecutorial misconduct in the Flynn case strongly mirrors the prosecution of Roger Stone. Despite no underlying crime or Russian collusion found, the prosecution chose to push forward with process crimes.

Stone was accused of threatening a witness after sending text messages to comedian Randy Credico, telling him ā€œmy lawyers are dying to rip you to shreds...prepare to dieā€. Stone felt Credico had spun a false narrative to Muellerā€™s investigators to throw him under the bus. Even Credico claims the texts were taken out of context and were not threats of violence or intimidation.

Stone was also charged with lying to Congress. When Stone was asked by Congress if he was speaking with Wikileaks, Stone replied that he did not have a contact in the organization, but was speaking with Credico, who had interviewed Julian Assange. This turned out to be a factual statement, but prosecutors alleged that Stone claimed his contact was Credico in order to protect Jerome Corsi. In hindsight, the claim that Stone was lying to protect Corsi from prosecution rings hollow, as Corsi was never found to have committed any crimes and was never charged.

I haven't followed this at all in the media, my only reference is social media and from what I've read the judge looks to me to be the one who needs investigating at this point, both the defense and prosecution agree, the three panel judges agree the only one wanting to bury Stone anymore is him and the left which would indicate some heavy handed political maneuvering in the background.

It was correct thing to do. Mueller investigation was a goddamn disgraceful attempt to overturn a free and fair election.

He did the right thing. Everybody knows Stone was railroaded

Who is everybody? I knew Stone was guilty before he was even charged. He posted to Twitter about John Podesta's emails on WikiLeaks, HOURS before they published them.

The only people who believe Stone is innocent are fools like YOU.
You know Jack Shit about anything.

Yeah itā€™s only trolls like her who ignore the corruption that took place under Obama who make asinine lying statements like. That.

I am inclined to believe that even the most disgruntled republican will hold their nose and vote for Trump again. I do not trust that there is a single one of them with the moral courage to realize what a disaster Trump has been. Assuming any sort of falloff of support is complacency and a mistake.
The thing is we have no choice but to cheer on trump to win the election because same as the last election the alternative is worse.it was a no brainer the last time to want to see trump get elected as any real American knows because the alternative,Hitlery,a mass murderer and globalist, was a much worse choice.Im not thrilled with the choice of trump being re-elected but biden will be the same as mass murderer obama, both are globalists same as hitlery. Trump while not keeping his promise to get us out of the Middle East war at least did not do what both bush and Obama did, start new wars.

Trump has Taken Presidential Pardons to a New LOW!

Trump is, quite literally, pardoning crimes that served to protect himself personally.

Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah) summed it up accordingly on Saturday morning: ā€œUnprecedented, historic corruption: an American president commutes the sentence of a person convicted by a jury of lying to shield that very president.ā€

Beyond the obvious political implications, though, are the types crimes for which Trump has pardoned people or commuted their sentences. Hereā€™s a look at the crimes for which the law-and-order president has opted to unilaterally circumvent justice:
  • Lying about contacts involving a man, Julian Assange, who served as a conduit for Russiaā€™s interference in the 2016 U.S. election and who is currently under indictment (Stone)
  • Three war crimes, including two murders (Clint Lorance)
  • Murder (Michael Behenna)
  • Alleged murder (Mathew Golsteyn)
  • Arson that burned 139 acres of federal land (Steven and Dwight Hammond)
  • Corruptly trying to sell a U.S. Senate seat for personal gain (Blagojevich)
  • Using his high profile after the 9/11 attacks to commit tax fraud (Kerik)
  • Refusing a judgeā€™s order to stop detaining people suspected of being undocumented immigrants (Arpaio)
So itā€™s not just that Trump has been unusually willing to use his powers to pardon and grant clemency to aid allies; itā€™s also that heā€™s been willing to provide clemency for types of crimes previous presidents have avoided.

For one, Trump appears to be the first modern president to pardon someone for murder, and heā€™s done it three times ā€” twice for military members who had been convicted and once for a soldier who was facing trial. (The Postā€™s Greg Jaffe recently went in-depth on the Lorance pardon, which has left his fellow soldiers distraught.)

I am inclined to believe that even the most disgruntled republican will hold their nose and vote for Trump again. I do not trust that there is a single one of them with the moral courage to realize what a disaster Trump has been. Assuming any sort of falloff of support is complacency and a mistake.

How do you figure? Kasich and Romney as well as the Bush Family are all devoted Bidenmaniacs.
Well, Trump did thoroughly whoop Kasich, Romney and Bush in the 2016 Republican primaries. So there's probably more than a little bit of resentment there. Especially Romney and Bush, who were both utterly destroyed by Trump on the debate stage almost as thoroughly as he destroyed Clinton on the debate stage.

As an Ohioan, I have a lot of respect for former Governor Kasich. He led the charge in Ohio during the 2010 Republican revolution that saved the economic viability of the USA. Here in Ohio, at the state level, in 2010 Republicans enjoyed an unprecedented clean sweep victory. We won every single race and issue.

Today, Ohio is not even considered to be a swing state by many political analysts, and Kasich deserves a lot of the credit for that.

Kasich would probably be POTUS right now if he didn't have to run against Trump in 2016 because he also would have completely cleaned Clinton's clock. And that's gotta sting.

*Stone, in fact, said the corrupt part out loud, in a conversation with NBCā€™s Howard Fineman shortly before Trumpā€™s announcement. ā€œHe knows I was under enormous pressure to turn on him,ā€ Stone told Fineman. ā€œIt would have eased my situation considerably. But I didnā€™t.ā€*

Imagine a more corrupt use of the clemency power than Trumpā€™s Roger Stone commutation

Stone obviously scared the bejesus out of Trump. Sounds like Stone was getting ready to spill some beans if Trump didn't soon act to keep him out of prison.
The Stone prosecution was utterly corrupt. That's why the President has the clemency power.

The takeaway here isn't hard to figure out. ā€œHe knows I was under enormous pressure to turn on him,ā€...............meaning..............Stone didn't tell the damaging info he knew about.

What information was that?

"A former top Trump campaign official on Tuesday testified that President Donald Trump talked to political trickster Roger Stone about WikiLeaks during the 2016 campaign.
That testimony by Rick Gates at Stoneā€™s trial contrasts with Trumpā€™s claim last November that he did not recall speaking to Stone about WikiLeaks, the document disclosure group that during the 2016 campaign released emails stolen from the Democratic Party and Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clintonā€™s own campaign chief.

Gates testified in U.S. District Court in Washington, D.C., that less than a minute after finishing a July 2016 call from Stone, Trump indicated that ā€œmore information would be comingā€ from Wikileaks."

I'd say Stone earned more than a commutation for obstructing the investigation. He should get a penthouse suite in Trump Tower or a permanent room at Mar-A-Lago. Because if Stone hadn't betrayed the country, justice, and basic decency Individual 1 may very well have been impeachment for conspiracy (with Wikileaks) to defraud the voting public. This, on top of the 4 counts of obstruction Mueller provided evidence of in his report.
Wow, yā€™all really only hear what you want to hear. You realize this is more easily read as ā€œthey wanted me to say the shit they wanted me to say in order to get off Scott freeā€, er nah...do yā€™all not even hear that part?

Could you elaborate and explain to the USMB forum, the reasoning that you used to come to that ridiculous conclusion? As it stands, that is nothing but a non sequitur logical fallacy.

Logically, just because Stone was under pressure to turn against Trump, it does not necessarily follow that Stone had any damaging information about Trump.
