And we see it in the white christian party personified by ted Cruz the dominionist christian kook and trotting out the rightwing jesus every election, but this election it has become hyper religious asshattery. Even Trump is waving his Jesus around ( even though i don't believe he really ascribes to that nonsense, it is always part of his show)
Ted Cruz's campaign is fueled by a dominionist vision for America (COMMENTARY) - Religion News Service

America has an infection. Whether it is terminal remains to be seen. The infection is that of anti-intellectualism, a steadfast refusal to acknowledge that one’s worldview is mutable, a worldview in which facts are only facts if they fit that worldview, and that anyone who disagrees with a Christian fundamentalist worldview is an “enemy” of God. The infection has taken hold in conservative politics, where it has spread to a significant portion of the American population, and even into a significant amount of the Canadian population. In Katherine Stewart’s article in the Guardian entitled “How Christian Fundamentalism Feeds Into the Toxic Partisanship of US Politics”
this isn't so benign as many might think, as it is it mimics the mentality of Islamic fundamentalism , not in content but in form. It will also affect all aspects of our country from education to competing in math and science .
But thankfully their numbers are shrinking and American people will reject their cartoonish black and white "thinking"
Christian fundamentalists are driving our country into the Dark Ages
