Zone1 Catholic Church's Position Against the Death Penalty

when did this opinion get in "the canon" of the Catholic Church?
Prison as rehabilitation is USA canon (officially)
It is not Canon, and as far as I know, not even Dogma. That being said, the Church's position (and the Catechism of the Catholic Church) encourages people to speak out against the death penalty as all life is to be respected.

How is it a personal opinion? As far as I know, it is not Canon Law, and being against the death penalty is in the Catholic Catechism. Perhaps you can educate us all and point out where it is in Catholic Canon Law?

Oh---now I got it----a thing from FRANCIS---HIS personal opinion seven
years ago. From WIKI---it seems the issue is still up for grabs. The really
fascinating discussion deals with an historical loophole. Theoretically,
the CHURCH got to decide on GUILT and the STATE did the executing,
thus rendering the hands of the priests as "pristine" as those of Pontius
Pilate. Queen Isabella I is reprieved

The State tried the defendants. If found guilty, the defendant, had the right to appeal to the Church for an Inquisition by the Church. If the Church upheld the verdict, the defendant was returned to the State. Or, at least that is how it was set up in early days in the Roman Empire. Not sure how various nations handled it after the Fall of Rome. As we all know, Spain used Inquisitions for their own agendas.

Warehousing violent rapists, kidnappers and murderers is not JUSTICE. A life stolen require that person pay with his life. That is justice.

Pretending being against the murder of innocent life is in ANY way consistent with allowing capital offenders to live out their lives is inconsistent with the Bible. It mocks the value of innocent life
