Cheif justice is only one vote. The rest of the court was Republicans.

They were mostly GOP appointees and they voted 7-1 to allow Jim Crow to be constitutional despite what the 14th Amendment clearly stated.

The bill amends the National Voter Registration Act of 1993 to require voters to show documentary proof of United States citizenship. Under current law, states can only require proof of citizenship to register to vote in local and state elections.

There is no need to pass a law requiring citizenship to vote, because the law already requires citizenship to vote.
Voting "no" on a bill to restate an existing law which is stilll on the books and being enforced, is a waste of time and money.

the problem is that the citizenship to vote law is not being enforced. In Cal they give drivers licenses to illegals and register them to vote at the same time. The bill would merely reinforce the existing law and require the states to comply, but we all know why the dems voted against it, not for the reasons you stated, but because they know they cannot win when only citizens vote.

That's a lie. It of course is being enforced. Nor has anyone produced a shred of evidence that illegals are voting in any significant number.
