Bishop Talbert - American Hero

the bible is clear about gay sex, marriage and so on, so he really broke his own rules.

and your use of the word 'hero' doesn't apply here.
Thats a narrow interpretation. The Bible is "clear" about a lot of things but they are quietly brushed away. If you dont like it then look the other way.It doesnt hurt you.
idc about gays, marriage or otherwise, they make up less than 3% of the pop.

hero should be narrowly defined or it loses it's meaning
A hero stands up for what is right despite the dangers to herself. (or himself)
he's in no danger, none, zip, zero, zilch, no chance of harm, nada, none, you have no idea what the word actually means, so stfu about it and apologize for being a moron.
He may lose his job.

Yes, that's pretty much true that cons don't fire someone for not toeing the party line. Trouble is, Methodists have a liberal streak. Why else would they be considering lifting the ban on same sex marriage? This "hero" may have to marry people at city hall if his church doesn't follow his lead into evolved love.

then he's moving himself from being in danger, making him a coward that didn't stand up for his faith.

So the pastor is committing "civil disobedience" against the church he serves. Why not just leave the church if he objects to maintaining Biblical teaching?

A bit of history to explain it.....

  1. The percentage of Americans who attend and belong to a church has remained constant for over 70 years. But predominantly liberal mainline Protestant denominations have lost members for over 50 years. “From 1960 to 1988, mainline church membership declined from 31 million to 25 million, then fell to 21 million in 2005.[6][7]Today, they are a minority among American Protestants, claiming approximately 15 percent of American adults among their adherents.[8]Mainline Protestant - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
  2. Could it be that their elite’s rejection of traditional beliefs and embrace of the Gospel of “social justice” has something to do with it? Another coincidence: the shift to the left started right around the time the Progressive era was getting into full swing.
  3. In 1907, a group of Methodists formed the Methodist Federation for Social Service (MFSS). The aim was to influence other Protestant groups. The next day, the group is received by President Theodore Roosevelt in the White House. One of the leaders, Harry F. Ward drafts a Social Creed that will be adopted by the 1908 General Conference and by the Federal Council of the Churches of Christ in America. MFSA » History Timeline
4. In the early Twenties the Communist Party made considerable gains in its program to infiltrate the churches. This effort was led by such prominent "American" clergymen as Harry F. Ward ("one of the leading collaborators of, and apologists for, the Soviet Union."...), Jerome Davis, William B. Spofford, and Albert Rhys Williams. at the 1942 convention of the Federal Council of Churchescalled for: Ultimately,"a world government of delegated powers." Complete abandonment of U.S. isolationism. Strong immediate limitations on national sovereignty. International control of all armies and navies. A universal system of money.... Worldwide freedom of immigration. Progressive elimination of all tariff and quota restrictions on world trade .... A "democratically controlled" international bank .... APOSTASY -- The National Council Of Churches

Mainline Protestants gave up the Bible as well as the Constitution long ago.

Who cares what it says? The bible is a compilation of fairy tales invented by ancient desert dwellers who were most likely insane from the sun constantly pounding down on their skulls.
Jesus doesn't give a fuck what you think. He gave up on you a long time ago reprobate.
