You are so damn confused about this it is almost embarrassing to have to educate you.1) There is an enormous economy of scale producing electricity in a multi-megawatt power plant versus burning gasoline in a 200 hp ICE.
2) More and more of that electricity is being produced by wind, solar and other non-emitting technologies
3) The ecological damage done to produce 20kg batteries that will last for years is absolutely trivial compared to the ecological damage of providing a similar vehicle 4 to 6,000 gallons of refined gasoline (made from 10-12,000 gallons of crude oil) all of which will be burned to provide the same service.
Wind and solar are shitty (inefficient) technologies that don't produce the level of energy we need to supply the energy needs of a modern industrial first world country like the US or even a second world or third world. Not by a long a shot.
We need concentrated energy like is found in fossil fuels or nuclear material. By the way, fossil fuel is stored and concentrated solar energy.
.
It is true that the stupid energy companies are creating more solar but it is not because it is good technology. It is for political and false economic reasons.
I have a good friend who is an executive with Duke Energy. One of the largest power companies in the US . They are putting in many solar fields. I asked him why Duke is doing a dumb thing like that because he (as an Engineer the same as me) knows as good as I do that it is shitty technology. He says it for three reasons:
1. Duke gets a lot of favorable financing from European banks. The stupid EU regs require that banks invest in idiotic "Green" technology so there is pressure to do the moronic solar production.
2. There are filthy ass government subsidies and tax breaks for putting in this worthless solar and wind crap. In other words somebody else is paying for a stupid technology that is not economical feasible by itself.
3. The Utility companies can pass the cost on the consumers, regardless if it work or not.
The energy companies will put in the stupid solar fields but it will never produce anywhere near the amount of energy we need to drive our economy. That will fuck us all.
