Are College Students Really This Dumb?

Most American college students should be nowhere near a college classroom.

True. Maybe less than 10% are actually college material. The rest are just useful idiots for colleges to warm seats and shark loans to the gullible.

Is this a good example of the quality of education at our colleges and universities?

Here's a current college student saying she wants to move to Iran. I bet she said the same thing about Ukraine when she was in H.S.

Forget about ICE. The focus now is on defending our worst enemy in the Middle-East, Iran.

This is so ridiculous:

leftist college students and leftist young people in general really are that dumb ..

I guess college kids are pretty damn dumb. The one that made this meme is an idiot.

Stay in school, kids.

It's "IRANIAN" not "IRAINIAN" lol

The RAIN falls mainly in IRAN.

Yes, I have multiple college degrees. I also know how to spell.

People's opinion of her lowered every time she opened that big mouth, told word salad explanations, and cackled like a lunatic!
Whatever. She never claimed the voting was irregular. As long as we agree on that. Only Trump makes up those lies.

My multiple degrees made my spelling worse....just saying.

However,
Costs vx benefit analyses show....
College degrees cost too much vx benefits anymore.

If you get a 4yr degree....most entry level positions requiring a degree will pay around $40-60k/yr. With a total student loan debt of roughly $100k....payments of around $800/month...for 30+ years.

Unlivable situation. You cant afford to live on the remaining salary. Pay rent, drive a car, eat food or have Medical expenses.....

However.....
Skilled trades....which we are in desperate need of.....plumbers, pipefitters, HVAC, Electricians of all types, elevator techs, various maintenance mechanics, and etc....HUGE demand we have no idea how to fill.

Nobody is taking these jobs. Instead of a classroom for 6 hrs a day you get a job that pays and 2 classes per week. These jobs are physically demanding....meaning you have to work. But it's not more difficult than any fast food job or retail store. In fact considering you dont have to put up with customers....a huge bonus.

There is no "work from home" bonus with these jobs. That's a huge downside. But theres no student debt either. There is also no discrimination....so long as you can clearly speak, read, and write in English.....nobody gives a crap where your grandparents or parents came from...especially if you are willing to work and do your job assignments.
Most skilled trades after graduating beyond the apprenticeship program are making between $100-$200k/yr currently. (More in some areas less in others) but all are making a living wage that is not replaceable by any AI or robotics.

PLUS....

If your employer decides to give you a layoff after your apprenticeship....that means you can become a contractor yourself....aka Competition. Meaning now your income can really increase as you hire apprentices and take on more contracts.

Just saying.....

Yes, they are. There are long wait lists to get into vocational schools these days.

You sound like you would like the USA to adopt a Soviet Union style education system. Where children are tested, and told what their career will be, and the schools educate them appropriately.

When did I say anything remotely like that?

My first time in college was in the early 70s, most college kids are not intellectual, and couldn't be if they tried.

But you don't need a business major to do high energy physics. I tutored math..

The only germane part of this thread is college has gotten too expensive. There are countries were it's free, and even more where the cost is reasonable. If the kids smart, he'll pick up a 2nd language while getting his degree.

Old Brit slang I like for gossips is fishwives.

This place has lots of fishwives..

When college is free everyone doesnt get to go. In America there are alternatives like community college

Everyone here doesn't get to go...

I suspect most countries have a way to train the trades.

History lesson from one who was there:

Before Vietnam, a college degree was an actual, valuable credential, and the job market treated it as such. To get a degree you had to have gotten into college and made it through. Good schools had what was called an "attrition rate" and it was often over 50%. If you couldn't do college level work, you were gone.

Vietnam destroyed "higher education" in the U.S., at least at the marginal level. You had the Baby Boom, which exploded the number of college-age Yoots, coupled with the Draft, which meant that a much higher percentage of those Yoots wanted to go to college to avoid the Draft. You had the colleges which saw the Boom as an opportunity to GROW like crazy - which every bureaucracy craves. Finally you had the usual pool of Leftist Professors and instructors, who were petrified that they might fail a student, resulting in his getting drafted and dying in a pointless war.

Add it all up and a "sheepskin" in, say 1974, had about 1/5 the value of the comparable credential from 1968, and it remains so degraded fifty years later.

People who are definitely NOT "college material" are getting into, and graduating from college these days by the hundreds of thousands. Attrition is a thing of the past even at elite schools because they need those butts in the seats to pay the bills.

And the infusion of Federal and State dollars has caused horrific inflation in the COST of those watered-down degrees; "we" are paying much, much more for a credential that is worth much, much less.

At MOST, 25% of today's HS grads are college material. The fact that we have seats in colleges for about 80% of today's college-age Yoots is a problem that nobody appears willing to address.

Hella stupid to stop 20 credits short. He said he had over 100 credits. Let's say he had 102 credits. That means he was 6 classes away.

This moron took 34 classes and paid for them, all for nothing. NOW that is stupid. Imagine if he just invested that money in something that gave him 5% return. Imagine if he worked the 3.5 years he spent taking 34 classes that are doing him no good.

No wonder he's sour. He failed. Started something and quit it. I'm surprised he made it through the army. Well, some people like being told what to do.

Think about how many people who go to the military so they can go to college. He ran away from college to join the military.
I joined the military first.

Mkay?

I joined the military again because the job market in CA sucked in the 70s and 80s.

No, there aren't.
Several countries offer free or near-free public college tuition, primarily in Europe and South America, often covering international students or EU/EEA citizens. Key countries include Germany, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Iceland, Slovenia, Argentina, and France. While tuition is free, students usually pay minor administrative fees and cover their own living costs.
Top Countries with Free/Low-Cost College

  • Germany: Public universities are generally free for all students, including international students, for both undergraduate and many postgraduate programs.
  • Norway: Public universities are free for all students, though some non-EU/EEA students may face tuition fees introduced recently.
  • Sweden & Finland: Free for citizens and EU/EEA students. Some programs are free for non-EU/EEA students depending on the institution.
  • Iceland: Public universities are free, requiring only a small registration fee.
  • Slovenia: Free education for EU citizens and citizens from specific partner countries.
  • France: Public universities have low tuition fees, often considered minimal compared to the U.S. or U.K., even for international students.
  • Argentina & Brazil: Offer free tuition at public universities for residents, including foreign students.
Key Considerations
  • Language: Many programs are in the local language, although English-taught programs are growing.
  • EU vs. Non-EU: Free tuition often applies to EU/EEA students, while international students may pay fees in countries like Denmark and Finland.
  • Living Costs: While tuition is free, students must prove they can cover high living expenses (e.g., in Norway or Iceland).
