Woman gets booed at graduation commencement speech

AI is going to wipe out entire industries in the next ten years.
Luddites are a common result of change. Instead of trying to turn back the clock, I suggest they embrace the change and more forward.

An example would be retraining buggy whip manufacturers to put lugnuts on automobiles instead of protesting the new fangled machines.

The problem I see isn't the loss of jobs, which can be alleviated by retraining programs, but by giving AI too much power without proper safeguards. It's better that they have Asimov's Three Laws of Robotics instead of the autonomy of HAL 9000.

Isaac Asimov's "Three Laws of Robotics"

  1. A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
  2. A robot must obey orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
  3. A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.

I’m getting less worried about it.

Seems to me that it’ll be a useful tool rather than a replacement.

At least that’s what I think now.

Kind of like computer spreadsheets.
You're not trying to get a job. I have two kids doing that. Its ******* brutal right now.

You're retied and not looking for a job as a kid are you? I have two kids doing that. Its brutal right now.

Trump has nothing to do with it but of course you have to get in your usual cheap shot.
Sorry to break this to you but Trump is the President. Trump is the one who canceled the renewable energy projects.

Obviously you don't know this so let me help you:

Excuse me ... but I believe we were talking about AI, were we not?
Your little silly fake green energy policies aren't even on my radar.

You do know hat all opinions are not equal? You do know all minds are rational?

Irrelevant. Are you saying it's irrational to not support AI and that only your opinion counts?

Yes. Specifically the huuuuge power requirements. Here, let me help you understand and follow the conversation:
Notice, you hear nothing from the DNC about all the electricity it uses and their garbage about global warming.

Neither party will fight this.

I know of no one who is exited about AI, other than those in government and CEO's.

Yay! Let's take all the jobs and put everyone on welfare!

What could possibly go wrong?
Nobody has yet to explain to me how the economy will look like when 25 to 50% of consumers can no longer consume.
That alone tells you why AI is not the big deal people think it is.

That's the real dilemma for the corporations, isn't it? It's equivalent to pricing themselves out of business.

My advice is to stock up on guns and ammo. The Civil War awaits!

Too be fair, I doubt that will happen. AI will inflict pain on American workers who, like now, will protest all levels of government to solve the problem.

When Americans can't afford to buy widgets, the widget manufacturers will become concerned too.

That's very true and the water usage too. Both parties are waiting for the windfall profits. Both parties are told not plaster this global warming doomsday speech to constituents in exchange for campaign donations.

You believe green energy can power data centers across the nation? Have you seen the number of data centers in CA alone? The state loves to champion itself as clean air, clean energy bullshit but turns a blind eye to the amount of water and power usage by these centers. Ironically, the state is also giving dire warning about drought.

You know why Democrats are completely silenced despite how they love to lecture Americans about the importance of fighting global warming?
