America's Christian Heritage

Any talk of the Christian Heritage of the United States should start with a very long list of apologies from the Christian churches and leaders.

And unless one of them shows up begins to go down that list, this discussion can stay on the shelf. As far as I am concerned.

Are you sure you aren't being selective? But even if you aren't, aren't you really saying you have a different view of that heritage?

Unfortunately, what passes for institutions calling themselves "Christian" do not manifest a genuine understanding of Jesus' message.

Churches are made of people, not abstract opinions of people with weird ideas of what Christians are supposed to be like and smearing them all because they find a few who don't comply with one's own biases. I've worked with a lot of churches and their members and I don't find many stereotypes. They're just people, is all. Those who think they're intellectually superior to them rarely actually are.

Put this into perspective and think about , our democracy has never been threatened more then MAGA and you idiots have done , supporting a piece of shit like Trump. No time in history was our democracy threatened more then you traitors, and no American should ever forget that. You are this countries enemy and you always will be. You no longer should or could be trusted and should be watched for the rest of your lives because if you get the chance you will try to bring down this country and it's democracy again. to force in a piece of shit for a dictator for life, just to get your way and control everyone.
We are not a democracy

For the lie that the legal hardworking black residents of Springfield Ohio who were recruited by the non-Nazi business sector of that City to work in the new factories that were built there due to a labor shortage in the area based on low unemployment- The racist lie that these law abiding black immigrants steal and eat the white people’s pets is traced to a white supremacy hate group who go by “Blood Tribe”.

Thank you, Don Trump says Saint-Hikerguy below

When Trump gets on the wrong side of decency, the law, racism and the truth, his minions like Saint_Hikerguy come through for the Donald and his Nazi source suggesting the police and the Republican governor of Ohio are lying

For the record
So 20,000 Haitians were sent to a town of 60,000 to fill 20 job openings?

took well over 100 years after the constitutions ratification for woman to be able to vote ... was it jesus who was in opposition.

selective - try denial of recorded history, all three desert religions to this day.

Anson Phelps Stokes noted in his Church and State in the United States that the "only statement of any importance which we have found in the official documents of the United States which seems to deny specifically that the government was founded on the Christian religion" was one embedded in the Treaty of Tripoli, which assured the Ottoman state in 1797 that "the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion." This contentious line generated a national controversy and prompted ratification of the Treaty of Peace and Amity in 1805 to supersede the earlier treaty.

To cite the Treaty of Tripoli is a tired trick of the left-wingers.

There are between 350,000 and 400,000 Christian churches in the United States. :)

liar - off by 50,000 is no mistake ...

and how many stood to help jesus on their way to be crucified ...

The Christian heritage of which you speak so fondly Saint_Ding is what keeps MAGA alive despite the blatant obscene racism of the ticket the Republican party has imposed on our country.

There are legal Haitian immigrants in the city of Springfield, Ohio right now who are being terrorized by the Republican ticket. This terror is being performed to stir up white Christian nationalism rage against non-white people including non-whites who are here legally.

Today, Donald Trump, in a rally in New York criticized the Republican mayor of Springfield, Ohio because the city is hiring teachers to teach legal status Haitian children English.

Republican Trump said the Republican mayor of Springfield needs to get rid of these people - presumably because they’re eating their neighbors, cats and dogs. That is what Donald Trump said in front of 70 million viewers during the presidential debate on September 10. It’s a lie. It’s a big ******* racist dangerous unAmerican absolutely un Christian lie.

Trump’s 30 million Christians do not care.

What kind of Christian could ever vote for a very wealthy man who works so hard to bring hate to people who are not white like him? It’s disgusting. It’s depravity. It’s actually horrifying to think that 70 million Americans half of which profess the teaching of Jesus Christ would vote for this piece of shit and his vice president piece of shit.

America's Christian Heritage is indisputable. The second best-selling book in the American colonies was the New England Primer. Five million copies existed in America in 1776. At that time, there were only four million people in America. Many of its selections were drawn from the King James Bible. The New England Prime was the foundation of schooling that all children studied from at the time of our Founding.

Harvard's Rules and Precepts of 1636 tells us that all knowledge rests on the foundation of God and Jesus Christ. Harvard's original motto was Truth for Christ and the Church.

Princeton's founding statement of 1746 was Cursed is all Learning that is contrary to the Cross of Christ.

Coumbia university's seal of 1755 has the hebrew Tetragrammaton, YHVW (Jehovah) within a radiant triangle. The school's motto "In Lumine Tuo Videbimus Lumen" means "In thy light we shall see light" Psalms 36:9, arcs across the top.

In 1832 Gouverneur Morris said, “Religion is the only solid basis of good morals; therefore education should teach the precepts of religion, and the duties of man towards God.”

In 1790 Samuel Adams said, ""Let divines and philosophers, statesmen and patriots, unite their endeavors to renovate the age, by impressing the minds of men with the importance of educating their little boys and girls, of inculcating in the minds of youth the fear and love of the Deity...in short of leading them in the study and practice of the exalted virtues of the Christian system.“

In 1798 Benjamin Rush said, "In contemplating the political institutions of the United States, I lament that we waste so much time and money in punishing crimes, and take so little pains to prevent them. We profess to be republicans and yet we neglect the only means of establishing and perpetuating our republican forms of
government. That is, the universal education of our youth in the principles of Christianity by the means of the Bible.”

In 1836 Noah Webster said, “In my view, the Christian Religion is the most important and one of the first things in which all children, under a free government, ought to be instructed...no truth is more evident to my mind than that the Christian Religion must be the basis of any government intended to secure the rights and privileges of a free people.”

In 1835 Alexis de Tocqueville wrote in his book, Democracy in America, "Upon my arrival in the United States the religious aspect of the country was the first thing that struck my attention; and the longer I stayed there, the more I perceived the great political consequences resulting from this new state of things. In France I had almost always seen the spirit of religion and the spirit of freedom marching in opposite directions. But in America I found they were intimately united and that they reigned in common over the same country. Religion in America...must be regarded as the foremost of the political institutions of that country; for if it does not impart a taste for freedom, it facilitates the use of it. Indeed, it is in this same point of view that the inhabitants of the United States themselves look upon religious belief. I do not know whether all Americans have a sincere faith in their religion -- for who can search the human heart? But I am certain that they hold it to be indispensable to the maintenance of republican institutions. This opinion is not peculiar to a class of citizens or a party, but it belongs to the whole nation and to every rank of society. In the United States, the sovereign authority is religious...there is no country in the world where the Christian religion retains a greater influence over the souls of men than in America, and there can be no greater proof of its utility and of its conformity to human nature than that its influence is powerfully felt over the most enlightened and free nation of the earth. In the United States, the influence of religion is not confined to the manners, but it extends to the intelligence of the people...

Christianity, therefore, reigns without obstacle, by universal consent...

I sought for the key to the greatness and genius of America in her harbors...; in her fertile fields and boundless forests; in her rich mines and vast world commerce; in her public school system and institutions of learning. I sought for it in her democratic Congress and in her matchless Constitution Not until I went into the churches of America and heard her pulpits flame with righteousness did I understand the secret of her genius and power. America is great because America is good, and if America ever ceases to be good, America will cease to be great. The safeguard of morality is religion, and morality is the best security of law as well as the surest pledge of freedom. The Americans combine the notions of Christianity and of liberty so intimately in their minds, that it is impossible to make them conceive the one without the other Christianity is the companion of liberty in all its conflicts -- the cradle of its infancy, and the divine source of its claims."

Democracy in America - Wikipedia

One Nation Under God: Alexis de Tocqueville
Hey, the founding fathers made our country secular.

Explain that fuckup

You are wound so tight Christianity gives your anus a twirly whirly.
You are a liar.

Christianity is one of the world’s great religions.

I just do not believe that it is the only true and great religion that leads to a life of higher spirituality when practiced in accordance with America’s civil religion which respects all religions or having absolutely no religion at all.

I have voted for Christians my entire life and will vote for Christians. I’m pretty sure up and down the line..
