States vary but they fall in to every 6 months, or 12 months or 24 months.... SNAP recipients RECERTIFY....the 24 months is for senior citizens to reapply/recertify which is less often.

We would actually save money by just giving $200/month to all 37 million US citizens at or below poverty level to spend any way they wish except for health damaging food & drugs like cigaretts, booze, soda, cerial, fried or baked food, candy, cake, etc.

That would only cost $88 billion vs the $100+ billion government spends on SNAP. People know better what they imediatly need than government does & they would be healthy & more productive. Their fridge might need repair ASAP before they lose all their food. Bike was stolen, Car tire blew or battery died & they can't get to work.
