As for the FBI, they are nothing but the Federal government’s national police, which many crazed Trump Republicans want to defund, or politically purge, or even abolish. They are involved in anti-crime, anti-terrorism, and national security efforts — which reinforce their conservative and patriotic nature.

The FBI is certainly capable of acting as “political police” — on behalf of the state — against those who are seen as presenting serious anti-U.S. threats … like communists, terrorists, potential insurrectionists, spies, etc. But they have always tried hard and almost always succeeded NOT to act this way vis-a-vis major political parties — especially Republicans and Democrats. I would guess that most FBI agents, just like most cops, generally vote Republican.

Of course Trump cultists who attacked the Capitol waving Trump banners and Trump himself singing the praises of Putin required them to investigate, but that is due to Trump’s stupidity and the dangerous actions of Trump cultists themselves.

I have no faith in the FBI when it comes to their attitude toward “anti-imperialists” and “internationalists” like me. But they will surely continue to treat Republicans (and Trump himself) with kid gloves … unless they act illegally or suspiciously, or commit open crimes as occurred on Jan. 6th.

However, even the peaceful reclamation of the documents in the interests of national security has the crackpots all wee wee'd up:

What did the FBI agents executing the warrant find?​

Why had Trump taken and stashed the classified material, and what did he intend to do with it?​
