A tariff mess solution...is it this simple?

When sales of 7.1 500 W Dolby enhanced sound systems drop off by 50%, some countries may re-negotiate. After they find out Africa-India etc. don’t need or want so many. They are still working on clean running water to the masses.

From that admission then you are stating that we are living far above our means. You do understand that. i mean a rich luxurious nation like ours does need the people of a foreign nation to be our slaves. For years I have made comments on this with no answers or comments from Progs. Now you do because of tariffs. When we controlled ourselves, we lived well. However, we didn't live like we were all top shelf royalty with the serfs at varying levels providing their work to give us our Caligula like living. And this includes the Perma ghettos with all of the crimes and despair of some of the of residents living in them.
If you seriously feel that way stop buying anything not made on this country

Good luck

I can believe that that's your perception of what I said.

I'm used to it here.

Nobody ever knows “what you say”. Because you’re a “middler”, smarter than anyone else (you claim). No real position on anything. 1/2 of this 1/2 of that. Void of truth, lacking in common sense. Lost in the cult of mormon with your mittens & chianey kkklan.

While doing my bike exercise machine routine this afternoon, I was reading the news on my phone, and in a Politico article on Trump, and tariffs 10 hours ago was this brief mention of a solution to the whole tariff mess, imho.

"In a post on Truth Social Friday morning, Trump announced that he had just spoken with Vietnam’s leader To Lam about the country’s offer to eliminate all tariffs as part of an agreement with the U.S., adding that he looks “forward to a meeting in the near future.”"

Somebody tell what is wrong with two countries doing away with all tariffs put on each other.
Then maybe tRump should have started with "you drop yours and we'll drop ours" instead of a vicious attack.

Everyone likes the security and good feelings of working to manufacture or design and sell products people want to buy. President Trump is trying to level the playing field as best he can (1/3-1/2 reciprocal tariffs on the weaker countries). It should result in lower cost goods coming in or increased MFG here in the USA.

Maybe our permanent welfare class can begin to put together electronic assemblies and test, QA them out the door? Are Americans too stupid, lazy or with hands too big? Board Stain apparently think so?

When Trump does anything board stain are conditioned to yell “global calamity”. Then go silent 3 mos later when things begin to get better for America.

Here’s hoping it works out well for all, even Bangladesh. Sometimes it takes bold action to wake people up. Stop them taking unfair advantage of kind partners.

Whatever he’s stupidly “trying to do”… he is blowing up our economy

What did Trump say all month to Canada or dirty corrupt Mexico recently? He has been saying exactly what you mention back to 2016 perhaps. It is common sense. You would not understand it.

Feel free to post some proof of that.

I dont agree that protecting poor workers in china or elsewhere is more important than protecting American workers
It's not 'more' important but it is important. Somewhat.

Dont be so sure about that

Your wish is not trump’s command

I’m concerned because the stakes are so high and the consequences of failure are great

But dont count trump and America out so soon

So you wish for failure? Cause I sure don’t

How does that serve the purpose of bringing manufacturing back to America? Our corporations are outsourcing their manufacturing to Asia because it's cheaper there. To level the playing field we'd have to get rid of a good many of our environmental laws, safety regulations, high hourly pay and excessive employee benefits.

Its not at all important

When its us or them we should be for us
It's not an 'all or nothing' situation and you shouldn't make it out to be one. It isn't.

If we can help developing countries without hurting ourselves, we should. What's wrong with that?

Nothing. Nothing is wrong with that.

When or if they start to take advantage of us, that's when we need to stop it. It's our fault for putting gutless, nutless scumbags in Office too chickenshit to do their fucking job, or too dishonest and too willing to take a bribe.

It's not their fault we put Sponge Brains Shits Pants and Barack The Gay Bath House Cowboy in the White House. Or even the totally gutless GW. Or Bill The Rapist.

That's not their fault. Or mine.

We have a Man that sees things clearly now. We're fixing it. There will be some short term pain but not as much as dimocrap scum are hoping for.

I thnk it's all ironed out by June with China maybe being the last holdout. Arrogance. It has always been China's downfall.

Shifting jobs to poor countries that could be done in America helps them but it harms America in most cases

I understand that we cant reclaim industries overnight

So in many cases the short-term objective should be end imports from china and replace them with friendlier countries in SE Asia like Thailand or Vietnam

So it is a nuanced issue

That's not the reason they're moving overseas. It's not even in the in the top three. In fact, it's not a consideration at all.

It's mostly regulations by the EPA, Unions, inability to find workers willing to, you know -- Work. And about a hundred other impediments to Businesses in this Country. Worker pay has somewhere around nothing to do withwhy businesses are moving out of the country.

Do you know..... Of course you don't...

It takes about 20 Man Hours to assemble an F-150

  • Personnel: Approximately 1,000 people are involved in the assembly process.

  • Daily Production: The plant produces around 1,000 F-150s per day.
So if Hu Flung Poo makes $5 an hour and Joe SixPack makes $50 an hour, that's $900 more that it costs to make it here. On a $60,000 Truck

And that's not including shipping it 8,000 miles. So there goes your $900 difference. And losing Quality Control, not to mention ALL Control. Then there's the fact that foreign workers are nowhere near as efficient.

But we don't want to confuse the issue.

The excuse of cheap foreign labor is total and complete and absolute fucking BULLSHIT.

With factory workers in Vietnam getting paid on average (in US dollars) $195 to $390 a month, I'm not swallowing labor costs isn't a major influence for Nike to outsource production there rather than manufacturing here in the good old U.S. of A.
