A tariff mess solution...is it this simple?

If Chump can't personally impose tariffs, Chump can't sell American importers exemptions from them.

Do MAGAts not understand how grifters and mafiosa work?
Trump's four decades-long "we're a poor little victim" trade fetish is suddenly such a massive imminent emergency that he needs to wreck the global economy over it.

He is profoundly unwell, and his personal issues have turned the world upside down. Incredible.

The "global" economy isn't our responsibility. The US economy is.

And you don't see a connection.

Trumpism, 2025.
Oh, there's a connection. We import more than anyone. Which means every other countries gdp depends on wether, or not they play ball, and play it our way.

you say dick, he says confidence and yes he will swing a bigger dick than other countries and they will get in line, we have the best products and the best free economy, want a slice.......play ball our way

It removes production from china and hurts the CCP

vietnam is communist but more of a hybrid now, they have brought in many western ideas for future growth

they and china are likely still true buddies, not sure we should be fooled who is loyal to who
"Get in line"... like Trump rules the fucking world.

Problem is, he's pushing countries away. He'd expect other countries' leaders to be dicks like him and when he attacks, they attack back. Problem is many won't, they'll sit back and take it calmly and work towards ending the US's reign of power.

The US gets its power from A) money and B) military might. That military might is being reduced. You think Germany would let the US use Germany's bases to attack Iraq or Afghanistan after what's happening now? No. So when the US wants to take out some OPEC leader who's going against the US's wishes, soon the US won't actually be able to fight back.

Trump only understands a world of business where he has many people he can deal with. If he angers one, he can work with others, and most of the time he's trying to screw them over.

China and Russia already have BRICS which is trying to stop the US being the world currency. That makes up nearly half the world. India and China together are 1/3rd of the world and both are growing.

If the EU moves away from the US, then maybe Japan and South Korea will go to. And then who has the US got? Nobody. It's all alone, people putting tariffs on the US, the US getting poorer.

The UK had Brexit, felt they were a power who could do anything they wanted and it wouldn't impact them. It did. The UK is much poorer now than it was ten years ago.

you don't understand the power the US economy on the global scale it would seem. China needs us period......everybody else does too so yes, if trump says jump they eventually are going to, but with biden he was braindead and allowed them to bend us over.

don't recall speak softly but carry a big stick? this is the big stick moment, let's see the countries that want to do business here or not, then we know friend of foe

litmus test.......what do your retard dems have?.......hate musk and burn tesla cars? real good answer, or maybe a trans parade with pussy hats.........LOL

it's not trump that rules the world, we do, without us WW1 and 2 don't go as planned, it's called respect

um, US currency is THE defacto currency of the world........for a reason

peso, yen, euro, ruble........NOPE

Yes, China in its current incarnation needs to the US. But it can change, and it should be able to change relatively easily. It's in a better position than it's been in a long time to do that.

Yes, it would be tough for China, but I think that Xi would be able to survive just by blaming Trump.

The problem is, everyone moving away from the US... within 20 years it'll be a different world.

why would they move away from us when we have a large economy and we make goods they want and need? we built china by using their cheap labor, without us they are poor farmers so they should show us respect

who is everybody? examples would be nice

trump has the right idea but the wrong approach, said it before he went about this with a sledgehammer instead of a delicate scalpel.........too fast and too furious and the market was left in shock and horror and confused apparently

While doing my bike exercise machine routine this afternoon, I was reading the news on my phone, and in a Politico article on Trump, and tariffs 10 hours ago was this brief mention of a solution to the whole tariff mess, imho.

"In a post on Truth Social Friday morning, Trump announced that he had just spoken with Vietnam’s leader To Lam about the country’s offer to eliminate all tariffs as part of an agreement with the U.S., adding that he looks “forward to a meeting in the near future.”"

Somebody tell what is wrong with two countries doing away with all tariffs put on each other.

If Trump manages to make this happen, ther Dems and Rinos will hate it.

Nothing easy about it. China cannot feed itself. And do you know what Chinas number one security threat is? An uprising. China cannot afford to have their people go hungry. It would be over for them. They'll play ball. You can bank on it.

My criticism of the trump tariffs is that he should have concentrated on china only and not imposed tariffs on US allies

If we can handicap or hopefully cripple china’s economy and move production to countries friendlier to the US thats a win for America
So you agree that Trump is an idiot

Maybe there’s hope for you

Look, Xi has lowered China's growth from its potential just so that he could get a firmer grasp on the country. Politics is number one for Xi. He'd go much further than he's already done just to cling to his power.

Why would they move away from the US? Because they don't like the US and don't trust the US.

They'll take the money when they can get it, but if they have to go another way, they will.

For poorer countries, you take away all tariffs and it might destroy some of their key industries.

The problem here is that Trump doesn't care if a country is poor or not, he wants to screw it over no matter what. He wants to "win", even if the winning causes more problems than it solves.

Literally the US is benefiting from poorer people making goods at a low cost and then shipping them to the US where they're bought by Americans for a low price. The US puts tariffs on such things, it's going to cause Americans problems.

It has a trade surplus because things are so cheap. Then Trump sees this as a problem. Why is buying cheap things from people bad for the US? It makes no sense.
Why should the US prop up these cheep goods?

If the other countries made better products, they wouldn't need to use the US as a dumping ground in return for US welfare....

We are broke, and the gravy train is over. Time for them to stand on their own.

It is understandable. Until you realize our nation is going in the wrong direction. Perhaps it ends up that we get industries to return, and we let 10% of the product sold from an overseas nation as to keep our industries running.
