A tariff mess solution...is it this simple?

With factory workers in Vietnam getting paid on average (in US dollars) $195 to $390 a month, I'm not swallowing labor costs isn't a major influence for Nike to outsource production there rather than manufacturing here in the good old U.S. of A.

Making Tennis Shoes isn't what Trump is after. We want Heavy Industry, including cars, Heavy Equipment, Tractors, Steel, shipbuilding, machine tool building, locomotive manufacturing, etc back in the USA.

OMB and I don't expect, and honestly don't want, textiles and assorted sweat shops back in the USA. We've out-grown those. Decades ago.

We want good-paying jobs, not $5 an hour jobs that nobody wants. We want jobs that start at $20 an hour and top at $50 an hour.

Or would you prefer welfare??

If those Vietnamese working in heavy industry are making the top of the range, that's still only $390 a month.

How is America going to compete with that?
