Is that the people who started the revolution had a coherent message and goal that was popular with the people.

The OWS protesters have a muddled message and no leadership.

My 2 sons struggled to get through college and are now both working full time.
My oldest took 6 1/2 years to get through college as he started slow and on a wild streak. Many of his friends were doing the same thing, taking 5 courses as a full load each semester and dropping one and failing one and passing three. Getting behind fast. So I bought him a $1000 beat up piece of shit car and told him tough luck. Go earn it yourself. So he buckled down, borrowed 20K and all of a sudden became a manat age 23 all by himself. All the while many of my relatives said I was "a hard ass".
I guess my youngest son saw all the screaming andyelling I did at the oldest so he graduated at age 20 from UGA with honors.
My oldest works 65 hours a week on salary now for a health staffing agency. Makes about 40K to start.
My youngest works for UGA as an IT specialist. He sort of identifies with the Occutard movement but he knows he has to do it himself so he goes and does it himself.
Most of the Occutard movement, as so well illustrated by the excellent video I posted above, has no work ethic and are spoiled by Mommy and Daddy.
Their sense of entitlement has been forged into them since birth.

Wages are set by the free market. If anything, unions punish the most productive and force them to settle for the median wage of the entire work force where they work. Skilled labor is still in demand but most kids do not prepare to take those good paying jobs as plumbers, HVAC techs, auto repair and such. My nephew went to a 14 month course for auto, graduated at age 19 and immediately was hired at $20 an hour plus bonuses. He made $46K his FIRST YEAR.
The days of "I want to major in this and that because I want to" are over. The days of "I want to go from high school to a blue collar job, make a good living and retire from there in40 years with a pension" are gone.
The free market ended them. Either prepare yourself and get off your ass for competition in the world economy or don't.
But don't complain when that Mexican man or Chinese man can run a machine that a 12 year old could learn better than you.
That is the problem. Americans are getting fat and lazy. They DO NOT educate themselves for WHAT IS IN DEMAND.
And the foreigners do.

As for college fans trashing a college or city, I've never seen millions of dollars in damages and costs from celebrations at my alma mater in 1993, 2005 and 2009 over men's basketball titles.
