I can tell you a lot of American soldiers saw what the Nazis did at Dachau, Nordhausen, Buchenwald, etc.

My dad always referred to the one he liberated as Nordhausen, but it is remembered adequately as the Mittelbau-Dora camp.

Who gives a shit about the law? They should have just been executed on sight, no trial. A shocking number of nazis were not put to death after their trials. Many served their sentences and then quietly lived the rest of their lives after being released, when they should have been doused in gasoline and lit on fire, or fed to a pack of wild dogs.
