The gains from headstart are not in IQ. Which was the real intent of the program. To make smarter children.

There are also twin studies that prove this. The two things that matter are genetics and "*nonshared environment" which basically means they don't know. Random stimulus, peer groups, random thoughts. We don't know. And it's well over 50% genetic.

No one will argue that genetics isn't the primary factor. The question is within a static subset, does stimulation affect cognitive ability in a positive manner? Each of your studies say that it does. The last three argue that the effect diminishes over time. However the 3rd link specifies that the motivational improvements of head start children is a substantial influence on later academic and financial success despite the closing gap in IQ scores vis a vis non-HS students.

We also have limited the subject group to economically disadvantaged children where parents are unlikely to be involved with children, offering an explanation for the closing gap after the child leaves the program. Essentially the stimulation stops.

Really not that complex. And you can't control for the fact parents are willing to bring their kids to the head start program. So they are probably getting more support in a lot of aspects of their lives relative to their peers.

You can prep for an IQ assessment* and raise your score a tiny bit. You're not actually smarter you're just upping your familiarity with the testing. Which is why it fades so quickly.

Split twins up to be raised by janitors and doctors. THey will have the same exact variance you would expect if they were raised in teh same home. And the one raised by janitors could very well be the smarter one. Same holds true with siblings although obviously it's not as perfect as a control because they're not sharing a womb.

IQ may not be set in stone at birth but no one has ever proven they have a way to substantively raise it. Whatever is causing these deviations from twin to twin (and person to person) we can't track down. If we knew education would be a lot more about making you smarter and a lot less about filling your head with knowledge.

I could technically be a member of MENSA if i practiced the relevant tests no doubt....But I assure you i am not a genius. I'm about ~125. And sooner or later I would forget all the details of the tests and the advantage would go away and I would return to my real score. Or they could just slightly change the tests around so I was less familiar and again return to the norm. Because learning how to take the tests is not actually raising my IQ, at least not in any consistent and measurable way relative to my daily life.

Florida is one of the least restrictive, yet the per-capita death rate is virtually identical, showing that the the restrictions in authoritarian California did absolutely nothing to lower the death rate.

The US is in a precarious position because many people have been made stupid enough to vote away their most basic rights.
