LOL....In that era the "news" stations out of DC and Baltimore has to add a hour to their morning programming just to go through the police blotter from the shootings of the previous night.

Let me tell you....The names of "so and so shot at such in such place" did not sound white to me.

My understanding is that the CIA hired several private pilots to transport loads of arms to the contras fighting the USSR backed fascist socialists/communists in Nicaragua, and rather than travel back to the USA with an empty plane with no cargo, a huge waste of time and fuel, those private cargo plane pilots made deals with drug cartels to fly cocaine shipments to the USA.

And since the U.S. government didn't want those private cargo plane pilots to get shot down or get arrested, they looked the other way.

It was a choice between stopping the Soviet Union's spread of communism in our hemisphere or stopping cocaine.

This is logical, because the right maintained ties with Colombia and tried to implement the native traditions of America as opposed to alien alcohol. In addition, money for the revolution came from there.

For the same reason, there was heroin, and for the same reason, during Prohibition, Coca-Cola was sold with cocaine.
