I llked Bush just fine his first four years in office. I think he was the right man in the right place at the right time at 9-11. I think he did whatever he needed to do to keep this country safe. He certainly did that in spades.

What did President Bush do to you that has made you guys so angry with him?

And while I'm at it,

What has President Obama done to oyu that has made you so angry with him?

For Bush, much of it was his political positions and some, what I saw as arrogance (a your with us or against us mentality).

- the assumption that narrowly winning an election gave him and his party unlimited "political capital" to push through an agenda (same attitude being replayed by the Congressional Dems).

- the deliberate disregard and distortion of science when making policy decisions based on science in regards to environment and health.

- policies that were almost totally pro-industry in regards to legislation, dismantling of regulation, and lax enforcement of regulation (voluntary compliance) in such areas as safety, health and finances. One example is the bankruptcy bill that was pushed through - that gave everything to the financial companies and put all the penalties on the individual. My feeling is there are two sides with accountability: the one who deliberately chooses to make high-risk loans in hopes of greater profits; and one who takes that loan and later defaults.

- foreign policy that was mostly in opposition to what I support - way too much bully pulpit rhetoric and your with us or against us posturing. Alienating a good many allies in the process.

- getting us into a war of choice: Iraq


On Obama - I'm not sure yet. I'm waiting to see what is actually there once all the fires are under control - there are just to many big and complicated issues for me to really get a handle on him.

One thing I am annoyed about though - dropping a public option from the healthcare bill.
