This thread has gone well beyond what is allowable for the Zone it is in.

I get that race is a very controversial and often angry discussion which makes it hard for us to moderate. In order to have ANY discussion beyond just spew, we need to keep relatively civil (a simmer, rather than a raging boil).

Whether or not a topic is going to work in Zone 1 is highly dependent on HOW it is constructed. You can discuss controversial issues if there is a genuine desire to discuss rather than bait or just fill an OP with racist (black or white) dog whistles. Dog whistle threads belong downstairs as do baiting threads.

This Zone also means no flaming each other. You can attack ideas or claims as “racist” (and hopefully explain why you feel it is) but can’t call another member a racist, that is considered flaming. If you report other members for flaming, be mindful that you are not also engaging in the same…because that means you are part of the problem.

IF you feel something violates these rules, report it. There are 7 of us mods who ALL see ALL of the reports and can act on them IF we feel they do violate rules. You can contact a mod if you disagree. Any mod.

If you don’t report, we often don’t know. We aren’t psychic…and there aren’t enough of us to monitor every thread and forum all the time. If you don’t report it early on, the thread grows too large too fast and it becomes established and harder to clean or move or close. Race is never going to be a happy place. Each side seems to think the other is given special dispensation.

REPORT the problems. Don’t just start threads bitching. If you do not like how it was handled, contact a mod of your choice.
