What if the mass shooting today happened every day?

More people have been killed by cars than have been killed by atomic bombs.

Hadn't thought of that but i'm sure it's true. The nuking of those two jap cities killed around 200,000 while car deaths in america alone during the last 100 years must be around 3 million. In the world it's prolly 30 million.

[Noomi, I understand your idea, but the kid today broke tons of gun laws and it didn't stop him. Gun laws are only followed by the law abiding citizen, the nuts will break any and all laws if they want to.

HAHAHA. There are no law-abiding citizens. I bet you speed and drive drunk every day - two super violent crimes that kill thousands every year. Nearly all americans are violent criminals. THINK

[Gun control would never work in the US. If you want gun control, then it has to be 100%, meaning all guns are confiscated.

Libs don't want all guns confiscated. They'll still let the govt have millions of guns and that means cops and soldiers will constantly be "losing" them - meaning selling them to criminals.

That would still be way fewer deaths than by cars:

More than 33,000 people and 11,000 kids 10 and under died in car crashes in 2009 (latest year available).

Anyone trying to ban cars?

Yes, because people would certainly drive a car into a school and run over 28 innocent people...

Gun control is needed, dumb fucks like you oktexas will never get it, ever.

Gun control would never work in the US. If you want gun control, then it has to be 100%, meaning all guns are confiscated. First off, it will never happen. Secondly, the government would have to round up close to 300 million guns. Again, not going to happen.

Tighten your laws, then.

- No one under the age of 21 should be allowed to purchase a gun
- Parents should be charged if their child gets their hands on a gun they own
- No one with a mental illness should be allowed to possess a gun
- A 30 day waiting period after buying the gun
- No one with a serious conviction (assault, rape, murder etc) should be allowed to own or buy a gun, even if the offence was committed 20 years ago
- No one with a recent criminal conviction (less than 2 yrs old) should be allowed to own or buy a gun
- If guns must be carried in public, they should be equipped with no more than 3 bullets. This means less chance of a mass shooting on the scale of Newtown
- Any one caught breaking any rules regarding gun laws will be jailed for a period of no less than 3 months. Build more prisons to accomodate them all.

We have all that here already except for the 30 day waiting period.

It didn't stop a homicidal maniac from stealing his mother's guns, killing her with them, and going on a rampage.

More laws can't fix this.

Anyone trying to ban cars?

We are constantly doing things to reduce traffic deaths. Safer cars, seat belts, tougher drunk driving laws, safer roads, child safety seats....

What are we doing to reduce gun deaths?

You really should learn the truth. The simple fact is that the government is deliberately forcing auto manufacturers to build cars that are less safe, not more safe. All those added safety measures that you keep touting must be there to fool the idiots.

How bizarre....

Why are traffic deaths way down?

We should do with guns what we do with cars

What are we doing to reduce gun deaths?

Increasing awareness and education of safe firearm operation, enacting regulations that make sense, cracking down on illegal possession of any weapon.

That's a whole lot more effective than banning a gun because it looks scary.

Traffic deaths are down because trauma medicine has improved substantially over the years and we have better technology to get people out of cars instead of standing around and watching them die because there is no way to move the steering wheel that has them trapped in the seat.
