Conservative is a philosophy of governance; Republican is a political affiliation. Two completely different things.

Politics, by definition, cannot be pure. It requires compromise. Case in point:

The Affordable Care Act. Conservatives abhor it It is fundamentally unconstitutional (Congress has no power to get into the health insurance racket), it is economically preposterous (insurers MUST be able to reject ultra-high risk clients), and socialistic, pushing expenses from those who don't pay onto those who can't avoid it. And it was sold on a couple of well-known lies (the average family will save $2,500/yr in premiums, and if you like your policy you can keep it).

But the American people like ACA. They don't think insurers should be able to reject nigh-risk applicants, they don't want lifetime coverage caps, etc.

So Republican politicians rail about how they intend to repeal ACA, but then qualify it by saying, "But if we do, we will keep.....[the stuff you like]."

There is a fundamental disconnect between the Conservative position on this law and the Republican position, and there is no hypocrisy about it. It's just political reality coming into conflict with ideological purity.

Same with NPR. Same with the Department of Education. The list is long.

I'm with you on that. I want fiscal conservatism to become so popular (from all the benefits that come with it), that most everyone else simply drop the progressive BS.

But to destroy it, would create even more revenge politics. And so the cycle would never stop.

Now look here. There's only a hand full of actual conservatives in DC. The GOP is still running on the false narrative that all republicans are conservative. It's a fargin lie. It couldn't be further from the truth.
And until the GOP voters understand this, us actual conservatives are going to be thrown under the bus and silenced by the RINO's, the RNC and the media.
RINO's make up at least 90% of the GOP now. And it pisses us conservatives off to no end, that we don't have a voice on this issue. We're screaming at the top of our lungs to get the record straight on what conservatism really is and who are the actual conservatives.
But when the media and the politicians are constantly calling people like Trump, McCarthy, McConnell and Johnson conservatives, How TF is anyone going to know what a true conservative really is?
