The Post-Election Fallout Is Going to Be Brutal for the Party That Loses the White House Race

Trump losing actually is in the best interests of conservatives.

The post-Trump GOP can't get here soon enough. A party that is for a smaller federal government, more individual liberty, less spending, and the importance of the nuclear family and values.

Trump represents non of these.

Trump winning would kill the conservative movement for a decade.

It's not even about ideology anymore. It's about keeping the retard from touching himself in public and embarrassing everyone around him at this point.

No way will Biden be elected to office, so that won't happen.

Who cares what happens to the Republican party, it will be a long time before I back a Republican for office. When you nominate a liberal for President, then there are problems.

Let's be honest here. The fall out for the entire world is going to be brutal no matter who is elected. We are going to war.
We have been at war since 9-11. If you are saying we are sending another huge army overseas, that won't happen.

Im not sure we will need to send them overseas.
Is this the con election refrain of "If we lose, theres going to be a civil war"? :eusa_doh:

You seriously think people angry enough to nominate trump are going to cease being angry if he loses?

Anger leads to violence. It's only a matter of time. Which will be magnified by the absolute corruption of a Clinton presidency.

Oh and that anger doesn't go away if Trump is elected. We will have angry leftists agitating for revolution and angry Republicans who will feel betrayed the second Trump starts ignoring them
Good on you for cheering-on that non-democratic nonsense. Keep up the good work

Who is cheering anything? I'm sounding a warning to anyone who will listen. You cannot expect our nation to continue corruption, screwing people, making them feel powerless before they rise up and fight back.

Wake up. Violence is coming

There is little resemblance between McGovern and Trump. I don't so the Democratic party looking back at McGovern with embarrassment. I don't see Democrats having to excuse McGovern's campaign or the votes that he did receive, he simply got his ass kicked.

Trump is different. At some point the Republican party has to forcefully make a turn away from Trump. That doesn't happen with non-endorsement endorsements. It doesn't happen by giving up and voting for a pseudo politician running under the banner of a pseudo political party and ideology. The GOP will only overcome Trump, Trumpism and far right wing morons by directly confronting them. Or, leave the party when you lose.
If you are saying that McGovern was not mentally crazed, OK. But your argument about Trump is specious. He will get his ass kicked. The GOP regulars and mainstream leaders will not put up with him at that. They won't have to.

If Trump gets his ass kicked (he'll lose at best by 4-5 points, probably less) and you rub it into the noses of wingnuts then I hope every Democrat on this board rubs your nose in the fact that you stood by and did nothing and let Democrats fix your problems for you.

How is advocating against him The entire primary doing nothing?

By voting for Johnson and making your vote pointless. To get rid of Trump there is only one person to vote for where you are being productive.

Also in general, decades of Republicans pandering to cultural wackjobs gave the country Trump. Moderate Republicans were all to happy to cede territory within their own party if for the sake that they can exploit their votes.

Well, it's now apparent how well that worked out and we all get to pay the price for it if Trump wins.

Hopefully the Democrats can do the job that moderate Republicans failed to do, defend the country from their Frankenstein.
:) If the Dems could get rid of the evil KKK and whites supremacists, getting rid of the trumphucs is easy peasy.

How? Who is going to stand up to them? There isn't anyone in the GOP who has the power and the will to do anything about it. You guys did your little autopsy report years ago and now you have Trump.

Don't look to the Democrats and say "see they did it, we can too!", there isn't any evidence of that. Today's GOP lacks a spine and because of that we are all paying for it.

Your party elected Trump, it's too late, your party did what it never should have and now it's up to us to fix your party's fucking problems for you.

Question

Is it possible that the rise of Trump in the RNC is backlash too that autopsy report? That many on the right are resisting the idea that they have too play nice with other groups in order to win the whitehouse?

It is a bit speculative, but the quote " he tells it like it is" is bothersome. Trump generalizes what he sees and overstates it. That is not "telling it like it is"!!

Another question is what will happen to Trump International once he loses?

Will Trump, being an ex-Presidential candidate, be more attractive to investors?
Or, has he exposed himself as an orange buffoon incapable of being taken seriously?

Will Trump get richer or poorer ?

Ummm--you know with these 3500 law suits going on with Trump, it would really surprise me that investors would back Trump, especially with this Trump University civil suit going on right now--that is due to come up during this election season. So I will go with the later on that one, I think his business record is coming into full view now.
Yes, Trump University Was a Massive Scam, by Ian Tuttle, National Review

Michael Bloomberg sure didn't have anything nice to say about Trump's business record.

I think Trump has seriously hurt the TRUMP brand. Used to stand for excellence and luxury. You bought TRUMP you bought the best

Now it seems almost cartoonish. Are those with real money going to buy into the Trump mystique anymore?

He's certainly put it out there in full view--and after the election slaughter it's hard to imagine he'll be able to sell wine & steaks under the Trump name, they may do like advertisers and just drop him like a hot potato.

I think that is possible. Actually, very likely and Trump is a prime example that the party has lost it's way and the only ones steering the ship are either too meek or are in fact just the mental cases who have taken over.

The GOP has been pandering to radicals for years, where were the more sober Republicans back then? Celebrating Reagan and W, never gave much of a thought as to what and who was responsive to their dog whistles.

Jake doesn't think so, it's all going to work itself out. Hell, I think he believes it's going to be easy.

One of the biggest problems a Trump supporter has is they do not understand the makeup of the general electorate. Republicans are the minority party at around 41 million, Democrats are stronger at 46 million, and the largest voting block are Independents who make up about 40% of the entire electorate.

There is no mathematical possibility of (if every Republican voted for the nominee that they would win the White House.) Any candidate is required to win Independents. To do that you have to have a moderate candidate that attracts those Independents. Too far right, too far left, don't get close to the starting block. This country is center, it always has been, it always will be.

Republicans not learning from the loss of 2012, again put up several candidates that could never win the largest voting block in this country (women) in 2016. They were Ted Cruz, Mike Huckabee, Rick Santorum, Bobby Jindal, Rick Perry, Scott Walker, & Rand Paul. These guys were too extreme on abortion. There really is no candidate that can win a National election for the White House if they don't give the 3 exceptions, for the life of the mother, rape and incest.
The GOP's woman problem goes beyond Trump
Why Romney Lost And Republicans Keep Losing
Gender Gap in 2012 Vote Is Largest in Gallup's History

And of course in 2012 they didn't do well with Latino's either. The result a 2nd term for Barack Obama.
GOP Win Will Need More Than 40 Percent Of Latino 2016 Vote, Says Study

The post Trump GOP would do well to spend the next four years being honest actors for the American people. They need to work with Clinton in tackling some of the larger issues that were swept aside by Congress while Obama was in office. They need to show that they are willing and able to govern in a thoughtful and responsible way that addresses the issues facing all Americans.
I Believe Ryan can be that guy but he needs to grow a pair and work to silence the crazies.

That is what Republicans SHOULD do.....return to sanity

But it won't happen. On the day of Obama's election, they met and decided rather than compromise to save whatever they could of their agenda, they would unite to obstruct EVERYTHING Obama tried to do. Obama did not receive a single Republican vote, even on positions they previously supported

Hillary will face the same stonewall. Republicans will even vote against their own best interests to block Hillary. Even if they wanted to, a moderate Republican would face immediate attacks from both the Teatards and the rightwing media for even thinking of working with Hillary for the common good

Then they are truly doomed.

This is not Trumps fault

Republicans sold out their party to the bat shit crazies when Clinton was President. They have only gotten worse. Trump should be the final straw in forcing Republicans to return to sanity

But all anyone has to do is read the positions of conservative posters on this board to realize it won't happen

Well to make it happen the Tea Party needs to be crushed, so sanity can come back into the party. Republican elected leaders needs to say NO to the Tea Party, the religious far right. If they don't, you're right this party will never come back. They need to take the anger & the emotion out of this party, and put the brains back in.

Which Republicans are going to stand up to their base, face losing their own re elections and be blamed for years and years of GOP losses while they reorganize? What is the GOP going to do without a substantial base?
The Republicans are between a rock and a shit sandwich. And they created the shit sandwich
They lose whatever they do

Very true--they've gone from too far Reich wing to over the cliff with Trump.

A country divided will not stand, a party divided will not win.

Again, remember this comes from Reich wing talk radio, and those on FOX News who have an audience--that never really reads anything except Reich wing websites that support their Reich wing ideology. So they have been spoon fed this Reich wing partisanship--and frankly think everyone thinks like them--(especially in the Republican party)--and that's where they hit the wall.

Really the Tea Party or Reich wingers only make up about 20% of the entire party, the rest of the party are moderates whom are commonly referred to as Rino's who the Reich wing has been at war with for at least the last 4 years. They also don't have a basic understanding of civics.

The Reich wing are angry because Republicans have had majorities in both houses and they expected too much, not understanding basic civics.

1. You cannot defund Obamacare and leave millions that were forced onto this program without insurance overnight. (The house could do that, but the odds of getting a Republican elected as dog catcher afterwards would be zero to none.)
2. It does no good to send up 30 house bills to repeal Obamacare with Obama sitting in the Oval office with a veto pen. To repeal Obamacare would require a sitting Republican President with super majorities in both houses. That's how we got Obamacare that's the only way to repeal it.
3. You cannot threaten to shut down the government, been there done that, it only backfires on the Republican party.
4. It does no good to read Green Eggs and ham from the United Senate floor over Obamacare.

So what have house Republicans been doing for the last 4 years. Holding Benghazi hearings--8 of them in a political dog and pony show at taxpayer expense that also backfired on them.

And it couldn't be better stated than this:

"Herein lies a lesson for Republicans who are perpetually trying to appease the far right: It’s a fool’s errand. They went to the tea party – and now they’re taking Donald Trump to the prom. Likewise, then-House Speaker John Boehner named the Benghazi committee because activists were dissatisfied that seven previous congressional investigations had failed to uncover major scandal material. Now an eighth has produced more of the same – and the agitators are as agitated as ever."
With Clinton exonerated, conspiracy theorists turn on Trey Gowdy

Very true

Illiterate, low information Republican voters have been promised the world....no Obamacare, low taxes, gays put in their place, no Mexicans, no Muslims
And now they expect it

That is how they got Trump......he promises to deliver and they are too stupid to realize they have heard it all before

We've got our candidate and were pretty happy with her. It's half the GOP that is settling and the other half is made up of inbreds like Steve McRacist.

Good luck with that, Hillary is a train wreck, except she will lie about it.

Trump is asking why the US doesn't use nuclear weapons. He's a birther and believes voter fraud is rampant. On a good day he's as bad as Alex Jones.

There is no comparison of competence between Trump and Clinton. Clinton has an in depth understanding of how government works, Trump struggles with combing his 'hair'.

Hillary can't tell the truth to save her life. How can anyone believe anything that she says. She has lied about Libya, lied about her emails, lied about her not ever having two phones, which is really funny because who in the hell cares, lied about Bosnia and when confronted with lies, she will double down. She lied about Pat Smith and called her a liar.

I can compare them to each other because you can't trust what either one will say. All their promises are worthless.

Two worthless untrustworthy candidates.
